What are the best lakes in Colorado?

Gotta girlfriend up in the Denver area and seems like I'll be making a Colorado Boating trip sometime this summer.
What are the best lakes to shred on? What are the most scenic?
I'm used to Ute lake down here in NM 8200 surface acres. Anything that big up there?

Some of the bigger ones are a couple hours south of Denver

        John Martin and Pueblo

They would be close to half way.

Horsetooth is pretty scenic and decent sized. You might head up to Wyoming too.

No real awesome lakes in the Denver area. They are all trashed by 10am. Horsetooth is cool if you like to tie up in party cove.

                  Lake Powell

                  Sorry, I couldn't resist.

The lack of a great place to boat is one of the reasons I moved out of Denver...

No disrespect meant to my Tige bothers there!

Navajo Res. has a marina in Colorado but most of the water is in NM.
A great lake all kinds of fingers you can always find flat water.
Just south of Pagosa Springs. We go there twice a year! Cant wait t take the R20.....

Horsetooth is great during the week and early on the weekend mornings.

                            Anyone,
Boyd is nice during the week. Don't EVER go there on a weekend! I work 1 mile away from Boyd and before I joined the private lake, I went there 1-2 times a week in the evenings and it's great! Boyd is weird because the lake is divided into 2 parts by a narrow area and depending on the ranger, you may or may not be able to pull a rider in the north end. The rules are kind of fuzzy to me.

                              Anyone,
I test drove a boat on Boyd last year on a Saturday morning in the early spring. I don't think I would go back. I can get basically the same at Cherry Creek and it is closer.

From the thread last year -

Boyd Lake - Growing up lived 1/2 mile from this lake so I have been there a couple hundred times in the last 15 years. This is a great lake, but gets very very very crowded on the weekends. I have been there at times when they are 1 on 1 off, with close to 380 boats already on the water. It can make for some dangerous boating and rough waters. Best times to go are weekdays and late evenings. Good part about this lake is the rangers are so busy dealing with jet skiers that they typically leave boats alone unless you're going the wrong direction or something.

Boyd - great on the weeknights! The rangers go in at 8pm as does most everyone else and you can get in a moonlight session with no problem!
