    1999 2100V Service Visit

    Hey everyone,

So, I took my recently purchased 1999 2100V in for service just to get a fresh maintenance record going and have been told I have a blown head gasket. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am obviously going forward with the repairs and am tacking on a valve job, since the head will be coming off anyways. Any other suggestions/thoughts?

Do both heads and where do you live? Do you have to winterize and if so that may not have been done properly either so be wary of block issues too. Blown head gaskets don't just happen, it's usually a result of overheating so the engine deck may be warped, cylinders out of round, water in the oil which would mean full rebuild but at least new roller lifters etc... give us the rundown on hours, history as you know it and when did it run good last.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

It is an Arizona boat, so winterization typically is not done. The thing was stored in a climate controlled facility and runs great, even when Tige' ran it for its' service. At this point, the are sending the heads to the machine shop to have it checked for trueness and Magnafluxed for cracks. It will also have the valves reseated and the block checked for cracks. Tige' has been great out here, they are doing a bunch of work to the whole mechanical system for almost nothing.
