I think I really need to change my perspective on what a nice wave looks like. In my Ve we had it sacked out and had a huge (meaning Tall) wave, but very short pocket. I was, and still do to some extent, look for that curl on the wave to use as a measurement of the wave.

Looking at your wave Ragboy, I think I need to focus on smoother wave and longer pocket. The push is there, guaranteed, and as my board control progresses I find myself able to pump and recover more than I was able to last year.

I am putting together a video of our session today and will hopefully get it posted later tonight maybe tomorrow morning.

Y, the curl just gets in the way, even though it looks cool. If the curl is too big or forward, it shortens the usable wave because it grabs your leg and sucks you back. When the curl starts more in the middle of the wave, and not the top then it usually is because the lip of the wave traveling down the middle of the face, so you don't have a clean face with a solid lip at the top. So the goal is to get the curl back and up, and as flat as possible.

Just got a new Z3 with the surf ballast and having some trouble setting up the perfect surf wave myself. I just checked out your video on wake9 and the wave looks awesome. How did you have your boat set up?
