More ballast in the bow

We took the RZR out on her maiden voyage yesterday and all went well. The water on the Sabine River was quite chilly but with the highs in the upper 70's you warmed up pretty fast after getting out.

We wakeboarded a little and one thing I really don't think I can live with is not being able to fill all the ballast without having a couple people in the bow. The 400lb sac in the bow is just not enough. Is there a larger sac that can replace that one or is there room to add an additional 400lb sac?

IMO the RZR wouldnt have enough room to put another bag or a different size bag in the front bow under the seat, that being said, the walkway is a choice and get a 400lb bag there and get a manual fill pump or integrate it in. The best person to ask is Chpthril.

I believe, but im not 100%, that the bow sac on the RZR is the same W711 Fly High sac. If so, and the legs are allowed to extend, I think its probably closer to 500 lbs. So, if thats the case, then the next option would be a pair of sacs.
Here is how i would approach it. Figure out how much more weight you need upfront to give you the desired wake with the rear ballast full. Then determine if this can be achieved with a single sac, a pair of sac, a sac filled in the walk-way floor, or adding a couple supplemental sac in each mid-ship locker.

Which ballast option do you have? I took an RZR out this past summer and we had to drain the rears because the rider said it needed more front weight but the front was full. The bow on the RZR is only so big. If you have the surf bags in the rear, don't fill those for wakeboarding.

Yes. I checked a couple times.

With all the ballast full, 1 rider, driver, 2 kids and my wife (130lbs) the boat really struggled to get on plane unless my wife was in the bow. With a few more adults on board we would have really struggled without crowding the bow. I would think another 250-400lbs would be perfect.

The wake was good with the bow full and the rear's at 75% and TAPS at 1-2. Any higher on TAPS and the wake would start to get a bit of a lip and would just pop you straight up. I could be totally happy with the wake like this if I didn't know there was more room left in the ballast! It's kinda like having a governor on the throttle, there are times you just want all it has.

I have the surf ballast. We did get enough people weight in the bow with all ballast full to plane out the first time and the wake was killer.

With all of the ballast full, and no people weight in the bow, we experienced some porpoising with the taps above 4 at 25mph or so. Sounds like you might want to change the prop out too.

We were all a bit rusty so for some reason 22.6mph felt really fast so we never got above that. The boat would porpoise if TAPS went above 2 or 3.

I can't ride that fast, my buddy does. I ride at 22 or so. We talked to Tony F. after taking it out and he said that we definitely shouldn't fill the surf sacs for wakeboarding. It throws a nice wakeboard wake though!

I don't think you will get a bigger bag in the bow, it fills to the max and uses all the space. I had a 400# bag I would put on the seat for surfing to extend the wave. Never had a issue with the wakeboard wake but I never filled the rears all the way. And I'm no Eric Ruck either.

Does the RZR have the cooler in the bow? If so, fill it with lead! LOL!

First off like mentioned make sure the surf sacs aren't full as that will not only make the wake steeper but affect planing out. Second if the boat has the cooler up front grab 100lbs of whatever (lead, sand, water) whatever I maybe try it. If that is the cure then you have two options 1. Get two separate bags for the bow and 2. Add lead in the cooler or somewhere else up front. Prop change could also be in store which helps a ton if needed. Also maybe speed up a bit what is the rope length you are running? If 70+ you should probably speed up. In my rz2 running 3,000lbs+ we run 24-25mph (gps) speedos are sometimes off.
