Anyone try Vantage protection film on their boats or trailers?

This is clear urethane product and top coat, developed by 3M, that protects the trailer and boat from rock chips, dock rash, scuffs from shoes/wakeboards etc. Apparently people use it on the frame and fenders of their trailers and hull side, deck and trandsom of the boat. It was originally designed in the 60's for the leading edge of helicopter blades then the auto industry started using it in the 80's to protect the front of the hood from rock chips (I have it or something like it on my 2011 and 2012 vehicles). Now the marine industry is starting to use it. Below is the website for the product and two short youtube videos showing its effectiveness (AC/DC seem to like it) and how it is applied to a trandsome of a boat. All I know about it is from the FAQs on the Vantage website. Has anyone used this product or something like it before or heard anything +ve or -ve about it?

Makes senes. Like you I have a similar product on our vehicles.
I might have had something like this on our first boat. We had a Toyota X-22 and there was a clear protective film that was along the back of the boat. It was great for putting on wakeboards or skis on the swim platform because you did not have to worry about dinging the stern of the boat. It came on the boat, I did not add it.
I would add this to certian areas of our Tige to protect the finish. if you do it let me know approximate pricing.

Looks like cool stuff. I didn't see a cost though.

I would like this or some thing else to put on just above the swim platform where the wakeboards hit the transom.

Thats what our toyota had. It never yellowed or pealed off the 3 years I had it.

I should have put this on my chrome trailer fenders when it was new. Now I have some nicks in the chrome.

I've thought about doing this on my new aluminum trailer. It has a few nicks and scuffs on it from fabrication. I plan on going over all the major, visible pieces with a scotch brite pad to give it an even, brushed finish. I've ordered a couple cans of this:

Once I get it cleared I may do some sort of clear film to protect the most vulnerable areas.

Here's one way to look at it. If a screen protector for a 5.5" by 2.5" I phone costs $15 then $24 per square foot for Vantage Film is a bargain

I put some on our 06Ve 5 years ago. I put a strip across the transom to protect if from boards. I also use it on towers to protect the finish from speaker clamps that do not have rubber inserts or protectors of any kind.

There you go Booms, $24 per square foot and a bargain at that! Family Marine is where I bought my Z3 from. See the nasty negotiating tactics they employ? I am just now getting over the trauma of the pricing discussions
