    Bimini / Tower Speaker Conflict

Has anyone had issues with tower speakers conflicting with bimini tops?

I want to add tower speakers, but I dont think I have the clearance. I only have about 5" max from the bottom of the horizontal bar to the top of the bimini. (see pic)

What are my options? Mounting to the vertical tower bars underneath the bimini?

    Opinions please. Thanks

whats the clarence like with the bimini deployed? Lower the bimini mounting points or shorten the bimini up-rights. Mount the speakers over top of the tower.

You could mount them in the corners of the front bar

I have the same tower on my 2003 22V and yes the speakers do conflict with the bimini when the speakers are mounted below the tower. We originally mounted the speakers above the tower but didn't like the look and could not put the tower up in the garage. So we moved them below the tower and have to remove the driver side mount to deploy the bimini. Once deployed the bimini touches the speakers but is completely functional. I have looked at shorting the arms but I think the bimini will be to low if I do that.

Did you power coat your tower? I am thinking about power coating mine.

        Take care,

Isn't that the same tower as this?
Even 10" NVS speakers worked fine with the bimini deployed. Maybe your bimini is different. All you have to do is buy longer straps to hold the bimini in its stored position.

The other option is an over the top Bimini that snaps to the tower - I was actually looking at this for the same reason. Not sure about fit to your tower, but the concept could be done on just about any tower.

Same situation for me on my 03. When I bought the boat used the mb quartz speakers that were on it had already rubbed little 2-3 inch tears in the bimini but it never really got worse so I just left it. When I got the Wetsounds Rev 8s I have to take the centerand rear bars off so it drops low enough to deploy. Its a tighter fit/harder to deploy the bimini. Not to bad though 2-3 minutes instead of 1 min. But I was not willing to lower the bimini. So I just let the bottom of the speaker stick through the tear that was already there. I guess when it finally wears out I will adress it with a different style bimini until then I just use it the way it is.
I guess they used a bunch of different biminis back then. Mine doesn't use straps to hold it up it uses the same rear poles as what you guys have. But mine has a center bar the mounts in 2 different places one for storage and one for deployment. Then it has little short ones in the front. It uses quick release pins so it all comes apart and goes back together pretty quick. Mine is extra long and goes all the way to the sundeck.

Ok this is a pick and the bimini poles in the stored postion. Thats Dom from Fortes Inboard driving my boat how did I let that happen!!LOL

In this pic you can see the two mounting spots for the center pole. Its in the front one for use and you pull a pin drop it down point it torward the back and move the center bar to the other reward mount.

I am not sure why but the rear legs do this weird telescoping thing and can be stored all the way up like this. Not real sure why I never do it like this because it looks rediculous..but it did make it easier to take pictures of the new speakers.
                    Normal stored position
Only pic of it deployed with the wetsounds.

Long story shrot..just add straps to let it hang lower so that cures your problem there. But deploy it and measure the clearance and then see what will work speaker wise.
