    Early spring Rewinterization

Took the boat out for a spin here in Missouri. It was 65 degrees here today and shouldn't get below 40 tonight. I removed all of the blue plugs(4 of them) from the engine block to drain all of the water. Is this the correct way to partially winterize just in case we have a few cold nights in the upcoming months before summer.

You might have another plug or 2. My 98 mercruiser has 6 (but I've only been able to find 5).

If you have access to a fake a lake, it's pretty easy to run 4-5 gallons of RV antifreeze through it as well (do that immediately after loading up though to make sure the thermostat is open).

You should have 6. That is if you have a Merc. Two in the block, one on each of the exhaust manifolds, one in the fuel cooler and one on the water circulation hose. You'll be fine if you do that. It takes several days of below freezing to crack stuff. If it just dips below freezing for a couple of hours, the chances of it doing damage is almost zero. If keep a cover on it, the sun will heat it up during the day. You could always pick up a block heater and plug it in at night if you were really concerned.
