Drop Hitch, Escalade, Denali, Tahoe with Autoride

So i just picked my boat up to drop it off to get all my stereo stuff installed. I have a drop hitch on which seems to have a lot of tongue weight. My last trailer set level with my current hitch. If I get a straight one it will be way to high, the hitches on these cars are pretty high. My car has auto ride leveling system and it's lowered a lil.

Can anyone with an Escalade, Denali or Tahoe with autride tell me how much of a drop hitch they have?

    Thanks

My dad has a 2" drop on his XL Denali. My 2500 Denali truck has a 5" drop.

Get a 2" shorter drop then what you have now run.

There are many types of adjustable hitches out there that will work for you

Patryk - I am in the process of dropping our 2011 Denali XL 2-3 inches. How low did you drop your Denali? I am worried if I drop it to much it will tow terrible or the autoride will not work.
Did you do it with springs or with airbags?

Russoo where are you located (curious to know of elevation and terrain) and how does the Denali handle the RZ4? What kind of mpg do you get pulling it?

I am considering getting one, more for family transportation but wondered how well it would handle my 22Ve. The lakes that I go to are about 200 mile round trip and I do a 1200 mile round trip once a year.

Our Denali is the XL and handles the RZ4 Great. The gas mileage is about 10 MPG. at 70 MPH. Live in the dallas area. Elevation is a bout 500 msl. The Auto level system on the Denali is awesome, and again, It pulls this boat with great ease.

I got mine done at Les Schwab, it's a 2 inch front 3 inch rear drop. My car is an 11' and has the new magnetic ride and I've had no problems with it. Only prob was my wheels rubbed so I had to trim the inside plastic on the wheel wells a lil'. I am running 26s though

It looks nice. Was it just switching out the springs or was it more involved?

Towing with a stock 11 Denali XL is a dream, throw the kids and gear in for the weekend and go. I forget the boat is back there sometimes. I live in WI and we are 800 ft.

How much drop do you have now?

Heres is what I would do. park the hole rig on a level surface like a school or church parking lot. drop the boat off and pull the truck forward a little. Now, using a tape, level the trailer with the jack by taking measurements at the end of the trailer and at an equal distance in front the axles as you did behind the axle. make sure to take you measurements from the main body tube of the trailer. Once the trailer is sitting level, then back the truck up so the ball is right next to the coupler, or below it if the coupler is higher. Now you can measure and see what kind of drop, or no drop you need. You may even need to go with a 0 drop and flip it over. This gives you about a 2" rise.

Since you have the auto-ride, it should recover from the tongue weight within a minute of sensing it. For those without auto ride, You would want the ball to be about an inch or two above the coupler. This means you have to jack the trailer higher then level to get it on the ball, then the tongue weight brings is back down once its set on the ball.
