We got out for the first time last Sunday...

and all went pretty well. We were slightly out of routine as far as prep, load and unload. Although, we are usually on the ramp for a minute or less. I think I snagged an under water object. I could find anything wrong, though. I will change props and have the current one checked and balanced anyway to be safe. It was a beautiful sunny day, in the 70's water-maybe high 50's-low 60's? We wore full wetsuits.

There was that one guy at the boat ramp at the end of the day, unloading his fishing gear into his truck while the boat was on the trailer, on the ramp. That annoys me so bad, there is plenty of room to unload and pack up away from the ramp and these fisherman, insist on loading and unload their gear while at the ramp is in back down the ramp and ready to unhook bow strap. He was easily sitting the 15-20 minutes on a two lane ramp.

We made it out Sunday too. No one went in the water, just boated out to a marina to have some lunch and back to the house. It was a beautiful day. I sure can't wait till summer makes it here.

I feel your comments about your routine being rusty. I was frantically running around the garage trying to load up our wagon with all the needed gear. I thank God everyday we are out I don't have to deal with boat ramps anymore.

It was simply too cold to go out this past weekend. Planning to wait until it gets a little warmer and the wind dies down somewhat.

I am jealous Dave, I am in Utah and it was around 40 here, can’t wait to get out.
I don’t understand why people don’t get it – load / unload and get out of the way… it is that easy. Take care of all your other crap away from the ramp like the rest of us.

I have a private boat ramp at our lake house. It faces north, so each spring we get to clean all the debris/driftwood that blows in over the winter. Last Sat, my daughter and I did the spring cleanup and made us a cool future bon fire pile. Sun was out, temps were supposed to hit close to 60. So, I got the boat out of the barn, which is a lot of work, backed it down to the ramp. The whole time I'm getting the boat ready, the winds started to pick up, and the cloud cover increased. But, we were that far along, so we launched to the boat and went for a ride to a beach about a 30 minuted ride away. By the time we got there, it was cloudy, 56 degrees, winds were hitting 20-25. We took a quick walk on the beach, hopped back in the boat, wrapped up in towels, and headed back to the house. Re-loaded the boat, backed back into the barn. Tower up, tower down, etc. Total time out, 2 hrs, but it was worth it. Anytime your 14 year old daughter wants to spend time with Dad, it's all good.

I really like the people that park in front of the ramp and justify it because they were there first.

Our lakes still have 14-18" of ice on them.

However, next 10 days they are calling for temps in the mid to upper 50's with rain. Snow melt!
