Heater Craft Install

Now that I've finished putting in my stereo I am going to install the 3 vent heater. I am pretty sure I have a good plan for mounting the core and vent placement, but I am stumped on where to run the hoses back to the engine. Anyone install one under the helm on a 21v? I haven't removed the floor yet, but I am hoping maybe I can run it under there with a similar route as the steering cable. Before I go pulling up the floor panel can somebody let me know if they will fit under there?

Under the floor should work great. That's my plan for my heater install. I pulled mine up and that's where the ballast hoses go. Here is a picture of mine. I would assume yours is similar.

Sweet. I am just hoping I have room to feed them through the hole in the floor under the helm without drilling it out more. I'll be tackling it this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

I don't have a shop so I have to wait till spring to start all my mods. Good luck with the install.

Ran the hoses with no problem. It was much easier fishing them through the floor than I thought. Really easy. I finished the entire install except for making the connections to the engine. I'll tackle that next weekend when I install the shower. Here are just a few picks from when I was working on it. I had big plans for making a false wall for the driver's vent, but when I started working on it everything fit really well. The core is under the dash. Everything came out really nice I think.

Those are actually 4 inches each and the one underneath is 3. I was really nervous about making the two line up straight as there is nothing square to measure against and the boat is not level. I just drew in the outline and eyeballed it for about a half hour before I worked up the nerve for the second hole. I would really be nervous if I was a tech working on someone elses boat!

I actually installed the unit under the helm and not in the compartment in front of the helm. That is why I was going to build some type of wall or something to hold the vent under the helm, but the vent fit perfectly in to that piece of trim to the left of the drivers foot. I found that it made the install much more simple and easy. Also it made for the shortest runs for the vents and hoses which should help with efficiency. If you had a sub under there it would have been harder if even possible. The hot tubes will not reach all the way to the back bench, but I figure if people are cold they will be huddled behind the windshield anyway. I can't wait to get the rest of my upgrades done and get on the water to try it out. Anyway here is a picture of the unit under the dash.

I have been working on the shower install and just have a quick question for the cold water shower line. Can I just tap into the main raw water supply hose before the v-drive? I know the pump is pulling water here instead of pushing water on the other side of the impeller. It would make it really simple and would insure cold water instead of hot. I would assume the water would be slightly warmer on the other side of the v-drive or any further into the cooling system. The shower has it's own pump, so I think it should be fine. Any thoughts?

So the work continues...

Last night I went and installed all of the barbs and fittings for the heater and shower to the motor. I still haven't connected everything, but all the fittings are installed. I started by getting the shower pump and mixer installed so that I would know my exact lengths to cut the hoses. I just realized I didn't shoot any pictures of the pump. I installed it right next to the taps hydrolic pump on the starboard side behind the transom wall. I installed the mixer directly to the wall that covers the transom.

.... Next I installed the cold and hot barbs to the motor for the shower. I was first going to install the cold before the water pump but decided it would add to the pull on the motor's water pump, so I changed my mind and installed it after the pump on the starboard side hose just after the pump. This should give better pressure I hope. Then I installed the barb for the Hot water. For the hot water I used one of the drains on the bottom of the starboard side of the motor.

.... Next I installed the hot water supply barb for the Heater. I actually tried two spots and the first I accidentally broke the head off the bolt. It was ok though because I think the spot I ended up using is better anyway. I referenced my owner's manual to verify the spot.
