Advice for new Tige owner ('04 21i)

Hey all - I'm a 27 year old, who finally saved up enough cash to buy my first boat. I recently purchased a 2004 21i type R.

I've spent the last 10 years trying to perfect wakeboarding behind my dad's Ranger bass boat with a homemade 6' pole and lots of people in the back....so this is definitely a step up for me.

Anyways my question is....what tips/advice do you all have for optimizing my 04' direct drive to function the best it can (ballasts, upgrades, etc.). Also anyone out there have anything to "look out for" in this particular model?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the site. Pics of your new boat would be great.

If you do some searching you might find some others that have your same boat and will have advise. I would start by seeing what is in the Tige i series threads.

Nice thing about the 21i is the rear seat comes out easly and makes a perfect spot for ballast without useing the storage area.

Wakeboarding behind the 21i vs. the Ranger will be like eating pizza at Shakespeare's instead of a slice you'd buy at a gas station. You'll love the 22i.

Look up any post by CHPTHRL on ballast/weighting, etc, as well as posts by other 22i owners. Lots of people on this site have vDrives so keep that in mind when you search.

I'm on the KC side of state; we love Tablerock but haven't tried Ozarks with our 24ve. What lake will you be on mostly?

Thanks! Ive learned a lot already about weighting this boat from the old posts. I'll post pics soon.

Murphini - great analogy with Shakespeare's. If anyone ever passes through Columbia MO, this is a must try!

Ill primarily keep my boat at my parents house. They live on a 100 acre lake in southeast Missouri. Other than that, I'll be taking trips to Bull Shoals, Clearwater, and most definitely BroStock at LOTO - June 15!

Congrats on the new boat! Its definatly a step up from the Ranger. I have the same boat and bought it new. As far as Ballast, its a must!!!! Put 1 Large Bag in the back (About 800lbs), 2 saks on each side of the motor(about 500-600lbs each)and one in the bow. I have run this set up since the boat was new in 2004 and never had a problem and it throws a nice wake. It definatly takes away from the room in your boat and make sure you get 2 pumps or you will be there all day.

Nice looking boat and from the pics looks to be in good shape.

I want to see some pics of the Bass boat with the pole.

Nice boat. Beats the heck out of the tri-hull outboard for my first boat (even though we didn't know it at the time, just enjoyed being on the water). You will love it. Take good care and it will last a loooong time. The guys and threads on here will help you a ton if you want to maintain it yourself.
