    RZ2 vs Z3

Hello All, I've just finished my order for an RZ2

However, with all the recent Z3 builds, i'm starting to second guess myself

I've always loved the pickle fork bow, and all the extra area it creates upfront

We really only surf on the boat, or pull kids in tubes

Usually have 6~8 adults and a bunch of toddlers/babies

Any reason other than bow design to consider the Z3 over the RZ2?

    thanks

The z3 wasn't an option when I bought my boat. At first I preferred the standard v bow of a boat but I have found the rz2 bow has its advantages. when I looked at an rz2 and 24ve, side by side at the dealer, jumping back and forth between the two, I realized that I was giving up a little interior room for a much shorter exterior. What I mean is, the rz2 does not feel 2' smaller than the 24Ve. The rz2 was also better for me because I tow it to different lakes and being 2' shorter, it is a little easier to tow, it weighs a little less and it fits perfect in my garage.

That being said, the z3 looks fantastic, I got to crawl around the z3 at WWS in Denver and its a great boat. I haven't been out on the water in one yet but looking at all the reviews with more to come from wake9 when they get theirs, it will be a great surf machine. The wakeboard wake is the only unknown, more or less. When my family go out on the boat, we spend about the entire day on the boat so I has to be big enough and comfortable enough for that, and the rz2 definitely is, and the z3 is bigger so it will be a great all day family boat too. My family is my wife and I and our two kids, plus another 3 person family and maybe 1-2 more, and it's got plenty of room.

Bottom line, as I walked into my first Tige dealer, I was set on getting a 24ve, but time in the boat at the dealer and on the water changed my mind to see that an RZ2 was better for us, and your going to have to take the time with your family and crew and try them out and make sure you find the best fit for you.

Same here! We were dead set on the 24Ve and then fell in love with the RZ2. I don't think you will have any regrets on the RZ2 but if you are already concerned, go for the Z3! I really like the Z3's styling and it will be my next boat.

We will have a lot more to say about the surf wake compared to the RZ2 when we get some time in the boat, I have great expectations for it to be even better, can't wait.

That said, interior, interior, interior. I can't say enough how much I like the new interior of the Z3 over the RZ2 and our old 24Ve. My wife loved it as well. That rear center walkthrough, no more extra cushion, no ball breaking ski tow sticking up, and don't get me started on the trash can. ;-)

From what we have seen of the Z3 and your main sport being surfing I would go for the Z3. Ragboy and his family have given it a great review. I have been in one on the demo room floor and have liked it.

One thing that you might consider if possible is to surf behind both of them. I would think that the wake of the Z3 and RZ2 are slightly different. I know that the RZ2 and 22Ve surf wakes are different with a similar ballast setup.

I have a 2011 RZ2 and I previously owned a 2007 22VE.Both boats make a excellent surf wake on both sides. If people in your crew like to ride in the bow, three will fit comfortable in the RZ2. I think the Z3 is a sharp boat, but I prefer the new trend styling of the RZ2.That's why I own one.Buy the one you like the best because in the end your making the payments.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

If storage is not an issue or price point, go with what catches your eye if you like the look of the Z3. I am sue the RZ2 and Z3 produce wakes that exceed most of us surfers abilities. Either way I am sure you will be happy if the price is the same.

We were going for an RZ2 because my wife liked the larger bow area and that is her domain. When the Z3 came out I didn't even consider it because of the conventional bow. Then my wife went to the boatshow, saw the Z3 and loved it. She liked the fact the cockpit area was much bigger and deeper than the RZ2, liked the idea of a center walk thru and found the bow area as big (longer, not wider but still able to fit 3 peeps) as the RZ2. She liked the trashcan but i don't think she has 'trash can OCD' like another poster on this thread who has the initials 'Ragboy'

@kabakona, I hear ya man, maybe its the 6 kids. I love that thing. My wife loves the interior (and the trash can ;-) ) of the Z3 better than any other boat she has been in, she REALLY digs it.
