Gas Prices. How will they affect your season?

gos cost will not change our approach. The 22Ve is kept in a boat lift at our own dock and I haul 6 gal down cans from the gas station to fill-up on the weekends. I only fill-up once at lake marina which has no-ethanol when we finish for the season so tank is full for storage.

Gasoline in so. Calif is anywhere from 4.25 to 4.39 for 87 octane at least that is what I have experienced so far. At about 7 gallons per hour on a 24v with a 350 cubic inch (5.7l) that adds up to about $30 per hour. Take a look at a quart of oil It is now around $5.00 per quart on the average. So that is $20 per gallon. This is insane.

Since you bring it up, for years I've been paying $30+ per gallon for high quality two-stroke oil (Mercury, AMSOil). And that stuff's meant to be burned on purpose!

My motto: They make expensive lubricants for a reason. Buy them.

As far as gas goes, we leave our boat at the lake and during summer season i put my spare gas tank in the bed of the truck and fill it in town where prices are cheaper and fuel is not only better but fresher. Take the truck and simply turn on the aux pump and tranfer to boat!! works pretty well for us. As far as friensa helping out, half of our day is spent riding and the other half we tie up and relax in a cove, some of the friends go to ride and others just to swim. those who ride know they need to help with gas and those who party just buy a case of drinks or something.

Like may others, I never ask but never turn down gas money (unless I know a friend is having a rough time).

Several of our regular crew make a subtle point of handing over a twenty at the gas station (we trailer) in view of newbies. I have never asked them to do that either but I appreciate the education service.

If I was a guest on a boat, I would pitch in $20 for gas in a heart beat. Talk about money well spent!

We are going to park boat at lake as well as our toll vehicle and take the econo box to the lake. 30 mpg on land for the 140 mile trip should save a little and we are setting firm fuel budgets for the weekend. We will spend more time at the sandbar playing volleyball and other games to reduce fuel consumption. We have to cross from the big lake to the skiing, boarding and wakesurfing lake which uses at least 2 gallons each time we do it so we put the hydrofoil out when making the trip. They don't mind the rough water from wind and boat traffic.

i'll be doin what i've done in years past, pull the boat to work, hit the lake on the way home (wife/friends meet me at the lake), ride then cruise home after. we do this a couple times a week just to miss the weekend traffic and it forces us to focus on getting the riding in before dark. total miles outside of normal commute - 12 miles. boat gas used, not really sure, but makes me feel better!

Which is why we should default on our national debt sooner rather than later, while we still have the military might to make it stick. Too much defunding of the military and we won't be able to openly admit what everyone quietly knows - that there is no possible way we can ever repay the debt.

Prices may jump a bit more as Tesoro union workers are starting to strike. Looks like Martinez, CA started today...more refineries to follow...
