Looking to purchase a 2005 24v for surfing. No ballasts...are they needed?

What kind of wake will this make without ballasts. Will I have to rig some up aftermarket?
I've never surfed , but it looks fun.
This boat is coming up for sale and I dont have much time to do alot of research on it.
It has the 5.7 340 hp and has 570 hrs.
Very very clean condition but I can't talk to the previous owner because it was repo'd.
Anything else I should be concerned about with this boat?
    Thanks! Ken

A 24v can be a great surf machine. But, yes, you will definitely want to get some ballast in order to make a good or great wave. Check with Duffy - but he was selling his custom sacs that were made just for his 24v - if they are still available, it should make a fairly easy job to install: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16252

You can sort of surf behind it with no ballast. No boat out comes with enough ballast stock to surf well. The 24v is a great surf boat and adding ballast isn't tough, you could always fill with a portable pump (this gets old quick) I would have the boat inspected if I was you. Just make sure the motor is good, electrical etc.... Hit me up if you buy one, I can steer you in the right direction as far as surfing a 24v.

A lot of the ~2008 and older Tige's didn't come with ballast because Tige really pushed that the TAPS and Convex V hull could do everything that you needed to do.

My 24ve was ok to surf without ballast and using a rope. However once I added the ballast weight it got so much better. Manual filling however got old and this year I am installing a complete automated system. The 24ve is nice. Lots of room and handles very well. I love mine.
          Surfs up.
