I'd be surprised if Steve couldn't make you a deal you wouldn't want to pass up on the R20 he has. I'm sure they could also get you into a tandem axle trailer too for it.

How far away is the other R20? That's definitely something I'd consider. Texas Tige's customer service will make up for a few dollars saved on another boat. Also, their service manager basically wrote the service manuals for the PCM engines.

As for saving gas with the 303 vs the 343 engine, I'd be surprised if the 343 wasn't identical or even a little better. The 343 will definitely help the resale value also. You may not make a ton more money when you get ready to sell it but I'd bet it would move at least twice as fast as a similarly equipped R20 with a 303.

I only started riding last June and since we were riding in friend's boats (mostly a RZR) I didn't get a lot of time on the water. My profile setting on the Tige Touch ended up at 50% rear, 75% front and TAPS at 3 if I remember. The wake was pretty impressive. That set up should be pretty close to your boat with all the ballast full.

I don't think it's too tough to add more to the factory system when you're ready.

I would lean towards getting the 343. You can always add on accessories later but it would be very difficult to add horsepower later on.

I would agree with an earlier post that re-propping can help however a 343 would probably easier to sell if you ever wanted a different boat.

There's a wakesurf video on Youtube of a R20 with 900# ballast. It was an impressive enough looking wake that I thought it must have been a typo, so I asked and it was confirmed that they were using the stock ballast. I have not had my boat on the water yet, so I'm hoping and praying its as good as that video looks. Even if my R20 does produce a good wake, I'm 99% sure I will be adding more weight. I have heard from others on this forum that it is easier to install additional ballast if you are adding to the surf ballast option, which I believe is 1600#. To find that Youtube video, search for keywords "tige r20 wakesurf". The video was produced by wakeflotrussia.
