    Subwoofer Location???

I would like to know if anyone has pictures of their subwoofers installed, and where you feel is the optimal position for one. Most the time I see them in front of the drivers chair, and others in the ski locker. What is the pro of having it in front of the driver instead of in the ski locker besides space? Do subs in the ski locker sound bad?

I'm installing my setup this weekend, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What model boat? This will help with any particular hurdles you may encounter with a particular location.

Under the helm is the ideal spot for a single-sub install. Under the helm, the sub will radiate out into the main cabin of the boat. It will sound more musical, instead of muffled as one will sound when stowed in a locker. They make the boat shake, but require a ton of power to overcome the loss due to the interior and fiberglass. If the sub needs to be placed in a locker, the best advise is to vent the locker with a slotted grill of some kind.

My sub is actually in the ski locker right now, but it kind of sucks. With the locker closed (it is not vented), you can barely hear it). Open it a bit and suddenly there is bass. My friends even joke around and open/close it to hear the drastic difference. I was thinking of moving mine (it's a bazooka tube and boat is a 20V) behind the drivers seat...just don't know if it might get wet/ruined too quickly there.

I like that RZR setup! I have an new R20, so it's the same hull design as the RZR.

Is that a W3? 12 or 10? Do you have pics of what it looks like behind?

is that a 12W6 or 13W6? What's the tuning frequency?

JL has enclosure sizes and recommended tuning frequencies on their site.

I think it's a 12w3 or 12w6. I can't remember. I have no idea what the frequency is. Whatever david from earmark told me. But I can tell you it bumps hard, I would say harder then any one speaker I have heard in a boat. My buddy Zack built the bass reflex box. Super sick.

He used the JL site for the dimensions.

Yeah, I was just wondering what his enclosure was tuned to.

I put my XS-12 on the port side in the walkway and had the box behind it in the storage area, it turned out great and definitely pounded hard.

I'm thinking of doing the same sub set-up in my RZ2...
