    Storage

Ok, just brought home our "new" 2006 24V. We live in Houston, Texas, so we don't get too cold around here.

The question is: I am storing it in an enclosed storage unit, should I still put the boat cover on? My thought is I could leave it off since it will be covered from the elements.

    Thoughts?

I leave mine on & then put a roll of poly sheeting over it to keep the dust off.

Always cover it up. You would absolutely be suprised how much dirt will settle in two weeks inside the warehouse.

X2...as long as the boat is completely dry once you get it into its storage.
        Be excellent to one another.

Yeah, that's the trick - balancing the advantages of leaving it open (so moisture can escape) with the advantages of covering it (so it stays clean). I've found that really large storage buildings can have birds living inside, and with several months of time on their side they poop on everything. So I bought an enormous but cheap tarp at Harbor Freight and I cover my boat and trailer with that while they are in storage. Bird poop can be very hard to remove, especially when it's had months to really soak in.

Ok. Thanks for the pointers. Put the cover on it this afternoon.

Also ya never know if the roof leaks and gets wet unless u check every 1-2 weeks. Sittng water for more the 2-3 weeks really gets nasty. Welcome to the site and congrats on the new boat. Now we need to see pics since thats customary.

Sure, I will take better ones, but here are a couple taken with my phone. Looking forward to the summer!

Nice looking boat. Comgrats and welcome to the site.

The above posts were spot on about covering in storage. Another note to think of and was touched slightly is about moisture. If your boat is wet when it is put away it needs to dry and breath. If you took water over the bow you will probably need to open the hatches and lay out the wet stuff. With the heat and humidity in Houston it may take some time to dry. I would put a fan inside the unit if not inside the boat to circulate the air to aid in drying. The cover is great for keeping dust and debris off the interior but consider that it needs to breath. Keep an eye on how the moisture content is doing after each use and how it is when you get the boat out. Adjust accordingly.
