    Help me get to April!

Ok so purchasing a boat in Feb in Colorado....well lets just say it’s awesome and it sucks at the same time.

Boat show deals are a great way to get some cool upgrades for less but the wait is horrible. You can find me at all hour’s day or night looking at pics and videos. I’m so jealous of Tige boats floating across the glassy waters as there passengers and drivers enjoy the warm air cooling there sun kissed skin. I have logged 20 hours on my boat just day dreaming. Ragboy @ Wake9 has entertained me so much with videos that I feel like I'm part of his family (RJ, your growing up so fast). I have the summer time blues so bad I now choose to take a bath rather then shower so I can push water around the tube testing my theories on wake and boat set up.

As my boat still sits on the show room floor at WWS I am thankful that Bill, Donna and Nick allow me visit form time to time. I worry that they will soon tier of my obsession and kick me and my boat out into the snow (Props to WWS for storing the R20 tell then).

I read threads of new surf boards (ecutter) and all, so how is everyone else getting through this with out RUM or MEDS?

    Thanks, AK

We're NOT! LOL! We are all here daydreaming alongside you. November to March is the longest 5 months of my life. I'm hoping that I am ~30 days (prbly 45) from being in the water.

I get by with snowboarding but it's still not the same. I do have fun taking my kids to swim lessons at the Y and teaching my 3 yo how to ski.

I absolutely cannot believe how much lift tickets cost these days.
$104.00 at Winter Park and $116.00 at Snowmass. How can Anybody afford this?

You can't escape it Allen. I'm sitting in Hawaii and still find myself checking in on this site everyday. I also find myself talking to the locals about surfing behind boats, shaping wake surf boards, etc...You just can't get away from it. Summer can't get here soon enough?

And next year we will be getting season passes, they go for about 350-450 depending on when you get them.

My wife and I were just discussing this recently. I was thinking that powerboating is expensive, until I added up the costs of skiing. Adult lift tickets at Schweitzer are ~$62, and while my son has a season pass it still nets out to about $50 per day. That's $174 per day to entertain three of us.

Meanwhile, at $4/gallon, that's 43 gallons of gasoline. At ~3.5 GPH, that's roughly 12 hours of engine time, about two day's worth of surfing and boarding and waterskiing and tubing. OK, so that's only a 2X multiple... until you remember that the 24Ve can carry five times as many people. Go conservative and say you're comfortably carrying nine people; that's 3X the people for 2X as long, or SIX TIMES as much entertainment per dollar. And for me, the entertainment factor skyrockets as we are able to include more family and friends.

So while I dearly, dearly love skiing, I have to admit that boating may actually be no more expensive. Boating has a much greater startup cost, but after that the ongoing expenses of skiing dwarf those of boating.

You have to go on buy one get one free days. Also here in Colorado, they have the 5th/6th grade passport for the kiddo's. 5th grade is 3x to most of the resort for FREE! 6th grade is 4x to most of the resort for $99.

We're eyeballing that 5th grade three days free stuff for our son next year. But he's already cheaper. I need the three free days for adults!

WRT "buy one get one", around here all of the "free days" are weekdays which doesn't work for those of us who work for a living and have kids in school.

They are Sun-Fri here with the coupon from the Gold C/Entertainment/Other coupon books. We also get a few $55/$65 coupons from other sources. You definitely have to look around! The grocery store sells mildly discounted tickets as well.

Yeah, a couple of ski shops and pizza stores sell $10 off coupons and we use them aggressively. My son's season pass also knocks off $5 for passes purchased with it. Every little bit helps, but it's still darned expensive for ~7 hours of access.

BTW, we went last weekend. I've never seen crowds like that at local resorts. Breckenridge, yeah - 45 minute lift lines to ski on a sheet of ice. But locally, never until last weekend. A nightmare.

                              Withdrawals

Good to hear I'm not the only one going through boating/wakeboarding/ skiing withdrawals. How do I get by?!? I am preparing for the summer by doing my own tune-up for the first time in the next couple of weeks... doesn't sound like much, but choosing the right oil based on everyone's input on this forum is a challenge in and of itself!
