Anyone know if Tige has ever made a pop up ski pylon or an aftermarket one that would work?

I think you could retrofit one, but it would take a bit of work. The framework to support the pressure on a pop up pylon would best be installed before the rest of the boat was put together. I am not sure who makes the pylon for other manufacturers, but I doubt that they make the support.
Knowing your penchant for tackling big projects, this might be something you could do, but probably not for any average Joe. IMHO.Be excellent to one another.

Edit: What about a pylon that is installed when you need it? The standard Tige pylon doesn't extend below the fiberglass in which it's mounted. The pylon could be replaced with a stainless base of the same diameter, but threaded in the middle with (say) 1/4 inch. Then install a matching threaded stud on the bottom of the pylon. When not in use, the base would be flush to the fiberglass. When ready to use it, just screw it into place. The stresses within the pylon would be borne by the entire surface area of the pylon/base cross section, and the mounting to the hull would be identical so if it's sufficient now, it would continue to be. This would be far easier to fabricate than a popup approach and likely be a lot stronger. Just an idea....Last edited by IDBoating; 02-16-2012, 07:22 PM.

Here are the ones I found. One is only good for 500lbs, which a tuber has to be more.

No decent pop ups here, but some cool powder coated pylons.

If your looking to tow tubes, I don't think the pop-up pylon is the way to go. It's goona be a nightmare to reinforce it to the point you feel comfortable with it. The right way to do it, at least in my mind, would be to put a full size pylon in there, mounted to the stringers. I've never felt the pop-up pylons in any boat were strong enough for tubes.
Is there a reason you don't want to tow tubes from the transom?
If you want it, I've got a full size pylon just sitting in my garage. I don't have the base for it but, I'm sure one could be made for it. Hell, you could even fabricate a sleeve type mount for it to raise and drop in to. It yours if you want it.You'll get your chance, smart guy.
