    Pop up ski pylon

Anyone know if Tige has ever made a pop up ski pylon or an aftermarket one that would work?

I would like to know about this too. Mine is in so tight and doesn't look like it has ever been moved. I took the bolts out and am still having a hard time removing it. My buddies Malibu has one that with just a twist comes up and down. Maybe the same one would fit on a tige?

Never seen one offered by Tigé.

      Not sure about an aftermarket.

I have been on a few boats with them. They are so slick. There has to be a way.

The short answer is no, Tige has never made a pop up ski pylon.

I think you could retrofit one, but it would take a bit of work. The framework to support the pressure on a pop up pylon would best be installed before the rest of the boat was put together. I am not sure who makes the pylon for other manufacturers, but I doubt that they make the support.

Knowing your penchant for tackling big projects, this might be something you could do, but probably not for any average Joe. IMHO.

My now-sold Seadoo/Mercury jetboat had one. I had to replace it at one point because it bent. I agree with the other respondent about the mounting mechanism - not sure it would have to be done during build but properly anchoring and transferring the stresses to the hull to protect the popup pylon would be critical. Definitely doable but not enough of an issue IMHO.

Edit: What about a pylon that is installed when you need it? The standard Tige pylon doesn't extend below the fiberglass in which it's mounted. The pylon could be replaced with a stainless base of the same diameter, but threaded in the middle with (say) 1/4 inch. Then install a matching threaded stud on the bottom of the pylon. When not in use, the base would be flush to the fiberglass. When ready to use it, just screw it into place. The stresses within the pylon would be borne by the entire surface area of the pylon/base cross section, and the mounting to the hull would be identical so if it's sufficient now, it would continue to be. This would be far easier to fabricate than a popup approach and likely be a lot stronger. Just an idea....

I don't know if this is worth me spending a bunch of time and money on. I was hoping they had one as aftermarket.

Here are the ones I found. One is only good for 500lbs, which a tuber has to be more.

No decent pop ups here, but some cool powder coated pylons.

I need to measure mine. Anyone know the diameter and length needed ? My boat is tucked away in storage.

If your looking to tow tubes, I don't think the pop-up pylon is the way to go. It's goona be a nightmare to reinforce it to the point you feel comfortable with it. The right way to do it, at least in my mind, would be to put a full size pylon in there, mounted to the stringers. I've never felt the pop-up pylons in any boat were strong enough for tubes.

Is there a reason you don't want to tow tubes from the transom?

If you want it, I've got a full size pylon just sitting in my garage. I don't have the base for it but, I'm sure one could be made for it. Hell, you could even fabricate a sleeve type mount for it to raise and drop in to. It yours if you want it.
