@ctbrians Great to meet you to man, hope you find that perfect surf boat you are looking for in your budget. Most likely it will be a tige, but whatever it is, make sure you send me pics with you and your family in it.
Those are great pics from tigecanuck, RJ loves that red white and black Z3, he was telling me to have Tige change our order to match that. Crazy kid.
There was huge representation by MC, Supra, Moomba, and Malibu there also. There was a day when you would look in a malibu and think I wish my Tige had an interior like that, but not any more. Tige has stepped it up so much, not only is it the best surf boat IMHO, but you get the whole enchilada. That red Z3 with that center walkthrough just made me ache for the new Z3 we have been waiting for. This is the biggest Malibu dealer in the world here, the biggest MC dealer in the world here, and then Hyperactive is the biggest Tige dealer in the world, so you have incredible selection at this show. A great place to get a good sampling of what the major manufacturers have to offer. Keep in mind, I am TOTALLY looking through wakesurf goggles.
They even had that orange and wrapped black XSTAR (2013?) here. It was cool looking like maybe looking at some spaceship or something, but I would bet my left nut that this thing won't surf. Probably worse than the epic, the hull has these HUGE notches in the corner for one, and then it doesn't taper IN from the center widest part of the boat, it actually bulges OUT at the rear. I guess it remains to be seen, but its gotta throw a horrible surf wake, but hey, if its an awesome wakeboard boat, cool. Here are some pics of it.
This if from the front drivers side of the boat looking back, check out that bulge in the back of the boat. I am curious if that is just a design element, or it helps the wakeboard wake in some way...

The white is NOT the boat, its the platform:

See those huge notches?

The new X30 from MC looked more promising. You can see they cut in the swim deck and the basic shape of the hull seems like it could surf, but who knows.

Camera Roll-426 by wake9, on Flickr
This deck is cut in a lot farther than any other MC I have seen. The bottom of this deck was not filled in at all and had a huge lip in it, going to probably be an issue.
Camera Roll-419 by wake9, on Flickr
Seems a bit light in the V, and a surf boat without a wake plate?
Camera Roll-420 by wake9, on Flickr
Anyway, maybe it throws a decent wake, I have no idea, but its plain looking on the outside, and I don't understand not having any plate, maybe it has such a hook on the back that the plate doesn't make much difference? Gotta love that convex V hull.

So Here is some pictures of the new malibu mxz 22. Honestly, the pictures I have seen only make it look really ugly to me, not my taste. In person, its still not my taste, but not as ugly as I expected up close.

Its got a decent amount of freeboard, but they REALLY lowered that rub rail down. My experience on several boats is that when you get the rub rail underwater, it cuts into the wake.
Camera Roll-437 by wake9, on Flickr
Here is the rear, get a good idea of V and shape of the hull, you can really see what I mean by that low rub rail. Also, you can see the seating on the back, its not as big as the Z3 area, and I think I would rather step up on sea deck than slippery upholstery. Maybe thats just the unstable fat guy in me. The deck is also very wide, not thinking of surfing.

The most interesting boat I have never seen til now is the new Mojo 2.5 by Moomba. I have no idea if its going to make a good surf wake, but there is no question looking at it that Moomba DEF was thinking surf with this. Lots of freeboard, unusual for a moomba, and check out the swim deck. Hull shape seems like it may surf, but it has that big hook in the back of the hull like all other supras/moombas. Here are some pics, def not the prettiest boat.

The hull looks like it has a decent wake surf shape to it

ok, now check out this deck, it was REALLY ugly, but no doubt they were thinking of surfing. It is also perfect smooth underneath.

Now this was my favorite boat.

Here are some good pictures of the new Z3 hull, so you get a good look at what the R&D bought to life. I am sure there are some old pictures from way back of the old somewhere, notice the absence of those chines?

The rear of the hull comes out to mate with the deck in such a cool way on the Z3, it just doesn't jutt out the rear.

It was great looking at all of these boats, and not once feeling like I was getting in the wrong one. Looking at them and knowing what I have learned with the Z3 R&D process, Tige is a few steps ahead of some, and way ahead of others. Can't wait to get our Z3. I know it sound repetitive, but I know you guys of all people know what I mean. You go to a boat show and you can just feel summer coming, and can't wait.
If you have any requests of pics, let me know. No promises, but I will be at the show all day tomorrow also. Be proud of the representation Hyperactive is doing for Tige. Top notch representation, no doubt about it.http://wake9.com/

So we have taken a bunch more pics, you can see them all on our home page or on our flickr page. Also, we have posted more notes on wakeworld along with a bit of jesting with a centurion owner that is pretty funny.
The Tige space was HOPPIN today, lots of people checking out that new Z3 and and the rest. Its been great for me to meet some RZR owners that really love that boat, and see and understand that crossover market. Fun stuff. I am going to be on the show floor in the am also, so if you have any requests, feel free.http://wake9.com/

ok, I got that covered. For the record, RJ is 5'11" tall.
Camera Roll-512 by wake9, on Flickr
Camera Roll-513 by wake9, on Flickr
You can see that it has the room of a 24, the boat is 23'9" long and lots of room. I would say the RZ4 has a tad more length in the cockpit, but not much.

The Z3 has like 4-5 inches more freeboard than the 24Ve, its very noticeable. Since we have and are very used to the 24Ve, I can say that confidently. The other thing, you will be surprised how deep it "feels" inside compared to either the RZ2 or the 24Ve due to the loss of that big walkthrough cutout. You just have to get in one and sit down, and you will feel it.http://wake9.com/
