    Ordered 2012 Ve

Well we did it. Ordered a new 2012 22'Ve. We traded in our 2005 22i. It was really hard to leave our boat at the dealer But excited to know we have a brand new one coming soon.

So here's some of the details, I will try to add the Build a Tige drawing. It's all white with a black hull, graphics are black and tower is black.

    5.7 PCM engine
    Surf ballast
    Heater
    Bimini
    Dual batteries
    Wind screen
    Alpha Z tower
    Premium audio package
Dealer adds another Exile amp and Samson tower speakers.
    CTW trailer, dual axle
Custom cover by dealer (similar to Rankin, haven't heard great reviews about the Sharkskin covers)

Jealous, and yes I can admit it. Time to update your profile and delete the 22i!

Has anyone had problems with the alternator not being big enough to keep their Premium Sound System functioning? I think the new 2012 model comes with a 110-120 amp alternator? My stereo guy says with what I told him about my system, the stock alternator is not big enough.

It has a dual battery system, I plan on putting in a 1400 Kinetic battery tied to the House battery.

Never have had a problem on any of my boats however all my rz2's had the 6.0L but I don't know of they have a bigger alternator.

Do not put a Kinetik together with a deep cycle battery. Mixing AGM and lead acid is a recipe for quick failure.

110 amp alternator should be great for most systems, but it depends on if you routinely run it very low without the engine on.
(The Indmar 383 Hammerhead in 2006 came with a 90 amp alternator...so 110 seems pretty beefy to me.)

Congrats on the new boat!!! Exciting times ahead for sure.
                  Be excellent to one another.

What kind of stereo are you putting in? I would go 2 batteries just for the stereo if you are in the 2,000 watt range.

Tall - does that apply to them being separated by an isolator too? I've never heard that before.

They have different resting voltages, so you are constantly drawing from one and overcharging the other, which is not a good thing.

If B/W is saying what I think he is...then he would have a lead acid on each side of the isolator and an additional Kinetik AGM on the one side. The side with the AGM and lead acid would not last all that long.

WIth them separated with an isolator, that is a little more difficult to say, as long as the isolator breaks the connection as soon as the alternator shuts off. They still have different charging rates, and one battery will charge faster than the other. I think there is no conclusive proof that this is a problem, and some guys do that for years without a problem.

For guys (like B/W) who are spending big bucks on a new boat, I would go with all one or the other, so that I would not have to think about if it is a problem or not. The battery cost is a small price in the big picture, even if he splurged and went all Kinetik.

Nickypoo, Thanks. Hope going mostly white is a good thing. Really hard picking colors. Going for the "clean, crisp, timeless look.

                            Tall,

I wish we could all get on the same page with batteries. I have heard both reasonings as you stated and just the opposite about mixing AGM and Kinetik batteries??????????????????????????????

                              Congrats on the new boat.

Mostly white will be a whole lot easier to keep clean unless you are at a muddy lake like my home lake.
