I know what you're talking about but, I'm not sure what their function is.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I think everyone is all eyes and ears on this project. Can't wait!

Don't the chines help flatten the wake when TAPS is at 1 so you can ski behind the boat?

Oh no, I know that, just referring to why some have them and some don't.

Ok the strakes end about 16" from the transom. So I think I will go further. Maybe 24 for simple measure.

Haven't decided on that yet! I might post on wakeworld to see what peoples thoughts are.

Please take a lot of pictures and measurements, if you get it wrong then one of us can learn from your mistake and work towards improvements and or perfection. I would love to modify my RZ4 if your project showes good results.

Really i don't see how it couldn't. The only thing I could see happening is the transition from the chines to the cutouts causing wash further forward. But i think it would be smoothed out by the transom shape? I am leaning more towards the Z3 and malibu shape to cutout. That way it's nice and simple. Just continue the bottom angle of the hull to the side and just smooth the corner out.

Whats the ultimate goal?? What do you want to see, a better surf wake or a better wakeboard wake?? Or will this make a better both??

I could care less about the wakeboard wake. I just want a smoother less washy wave. Also these chines cause lift, so in theory cutting them will help the boat run less weight and achieve the same wave. If I couldn't see what these are doing while surfing I would most likely leave them. But the whole time I just stare at them and wonder why? And how to fix it.
