From what I understand the tandem axle will tow a little better and hold the road much better. I was told that the single axle will want to sway on you at highway speeds.

IMO, the RZR looks kinda small and funny on the single axle. I guess it depends on how much you will be towing it.

    What's the cost difference?
The windscreen goes in the walkway under the windshield. It gives you a wind free ride on cool mornings and is complimented by the heater. The table fits in the back of the boat and has a short pole so you can sit on rear seats and eat at the table. We had one on our 07 22ve and never used it.[we don't have any children]I also would recommend the Tandem axle trailer as it's easier to back up and rides and tows smoother and more stable.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

My 3 kids are 14,12,9...and most of our friends have 3 kids minimum....so I guess going bigger is a better option, since i plan to keep this boat for a few years. I had the Malibu for 4 years and would have kept it for a bit longer, but I was sitting with 2 mortgages and wanted to have a reserve just in case house didnt sell right away. Plus it was a good excuse to upgrade!

Does the 343 have enough git up n go in the rz2?

Is the rz2 a decent handling boat? My wife was at ease driving the malibu 21 ft ride?

Will this thing do tight turns or does it feel like a 22 footer?

Im afraid of the underpowered big boat feel..i liked the tight handling of the malibu

We have good boating friends just down the block that sold their 2010 RZ2 with a 343 PCM and replaced the boat with a 2011 RZ2 with the 409 PCM.
We spend a lot of time in both boats ( our RZR and his RZ2), and IMO the 343 is not enough in the RZ2.
He has three boys 16,17,19. and are all hockey players. And if he has/had the ballast filled for wakeboarding and a boatful of people, its a slug out of the hole ( BIG SLUG).

We did try propping the 343hp RZ2 and that did make a difference, BUT the 409 is a monster.

On our RZR with the 343hp, I did prop it for the higher elevation and it pulls me out on a slalom ski with ease. I have a buddy that is about 255 lb's and he pulls up on two skies and them drops to his slalom, and if you not careful with the throttle you ( I ) end up pulling him right up and over and out of the skies. ( It's kind of funny, sorry )

We have a 2011 RZ2 with the pro ballast. With the ballast full and 3 to 4 others on the boat all you need to do is set TAPS at 1 then adjust to you liking at wakeboard speed.Or you could pay the difference for the 409hp motor. To me it's easier to push a button.Of course were only a couple hundrded feet above sea level with the stock prop.

I would have to say that elevation plays a large part in the performance of a boat. We are at 3000 feet here and most of the lakes we boat on are from 3000-4000 feet in elevation.

Im in Wisconsin, so not a big elevation issue....will the 343 be enough? I guess Im stretching it jumping up to an RZ2 from the RZR budget wise....so any savings will make the boss happy. Now it seems like alot of them come with the 343....so it cant be too bad right?

I only have the 340hp Marine Power engine in my RZ2 and boat at 5,000'+ and above with the factory 537 prop and don't have any issues. I have had my RZ2 for 5 years now and have 0 complaints with the 340hp engine. Tige makes a pretty efficient hull and it makes a large difference.

As for handling, I think you will be impressed with the way it handles. I can take my boat up to 35 mph and turn the wheel all the way and the boat just goes, no roll or anything! It's a lot of fun! The RZ2 has 3 tracking fins on the bottom whereas the Z1 that you drove only has 2 and I am not sure about the RZR. I have driven an RZR and I drove it and got out and was like wow, that boat is so fast and then I got in my RZ2 and drove it and realized that my RZ2 is just as fast it's just that it's mass absorbs all of the waves and makes it ride so nice that you forget how big it really is. Love the RZR but I would never pick RZR over RZ2 unless I couldn't afford the RZ2. I feel that the RZ2 is worth every penny more than an RZR.

Personally, I think you should hold off on your purchase and go drive the 2 boats and make sure you pick the right one for your family since it is such a large purchase and you plan on keeping it for many years to come.

Pm if you happen to get some questions on the rz2 or something I'll answer when I get a chance. I've owned a few and been around the bend with them current running a 2012 would love to help.

The 343 is plenty for my rz2. Elevation on the lakes in WA and ID is about 2500' so not a good example against CO owners. I'm working on my big ballast upgrade and I may need to reprop but I've had my boat full of people and had plenty of power.

If you're interested, my local dealer has a leftover 2011 that you might be interested in: http://waterskispecialty.com/Tige/Boats/RZ2.html . I'd guess the price will be about what you had that RZR at even with shipping...
