    ECU No Data - THANKS

We went out last weekend, my son got in for his first set, set the cruise control and threw the throttle down to pull him out and ..... everything died !
Couldnt restart, then noticed the readout saying ECU NO DATA AFTER25 seconds.
Anyway, just been nack up today after reading some previous posts on the subject regarding bad connections, fuses etc, put a meter across the ones I could see and everything close to the battery was fine, I couldn’t see where the wire went (the small red one from the battery switch).

Had virtually given up and decided to call the dealer here, as would have to haul the boat 160 miles to him to sort it out, the company is RJ Performance Marine, in Abu Dhabi and the guys name is Rudi du Plesis, he is a star ! Told me to check under the starter motor area and I should find a coiled up extra length of wire, there will be a connector near there and its likely corroded, which it was !!

20 minutes later all sorted !!

Just wanted to post to say a big thanks for everyone on this forum who posts great advice and technical help as it pointed me in the right direction and a big thanks to Rudi at RJ Performance Marine for the specific bit of advice. Hope your dealers are as helpful

Glad you got it sorted out!

I will be coming through Dubia in mid March, leaving Aghan to head home. What are the chances I could get a pull on a Thursday afternoon?

I would only be in Dubai for about 7 or 8 hours. Once I get my dates confirmed I will hit you up on PM and see if we can hook up.

Ha, I live in Saudi Arabia (family in MSP) and am just in the process of ordering a Z3 for back home. With Guma in the region, we could start a Middle East Tige club!!

I have has similar problems. Al lot of electrical issues. They have all lead to loose conections of wires, fuses and such under the dash as well in the battery and engine compartments. Very frustrating especially when stranded out on the water.

I hate electrical faults! Some of those joints are in stupid locations!

My brand new 24Ve had two butt splices (the kind that are crimped) on heavy power leads running to the factory-installed amplifiers. While I was installing my ballast system, I pushed these wires - using very little pressure - and both splices failed. The wires literally just fell out of them. I fixed them the proper way: Stripped and tinned the wire ends, mechanically secured them, soldered them together, and then put heat shrink around the connections.

This isn't a Tige-exclusive issue. I also had a hidden butt splice fail on my last boat on its RPM limiter circuit. Rendered the engine unusable at anything except idle. The splice was in an almost inaccessible location behind a solid fiberglass wall. I fixed it the same way: Strip, tin, solder, heat shrink.

Mechanical splices are nasty critters. I avoid them whenever possible, especially on watercraft, and recommend others do the same.

I had same problem on my 07 24ve in 2008. Died. Same ECM message. It was the ground wire that was corroded. If someone could place a picture of where it is it would help the next guy it happens to. Best news is it's a quick fix.
