Yes, the amount of list is like the amount of freeboard in a boat. You feel safer if you have more freeboard, and less list. The Z3 has like 5 inches more freeboard than the 24ve, and you REALLY notice that. I have never felt so secure. The lack of walkthrough down the side also very much gives you an even greater sense of security, especially if you surf goofy.

There def is a lot more hype, Tige's marketing dept is def pushing that boat hard, but I can tell you that we would not have put out the video we did if we didn't completely believe what we said. Keep in mind, that we declined to "endorse" (so to speak) the Z3 on 2 previous occasions until we rode on that final version. It really did make that wake with only like 8 degrees of list. We tested it at basically stock, and then a bit more, and haven't really tested it more heavily weighted. We should be getting our Z3 in early March and will be doing video with several riders right away and get the information out.

For the time being, we spent so much time talking and stuff on the Z3 video, that we didn't show as much of just the wake surfing. Keep in mind that RJ was freezing, and it was windy, but he was having a blast. We made this quick video for the Lynnwood Motoplex Tige dealer in Seattle, WA. Its just designed to be a longer video of nothing but raw surfing. Take a look, 4 boats in here, I think the Z3 is last, with several minutes of surfing.

Its a lot of money, but you are only about 8 hours away, come down and get a great ride, no salesman here! Come try the RZ4 very soon, then come back and try the Z3. Plus we have a garage full of great boards to try. Where is your nearest Tige dealer? just curious.
Great videos and perspectives on the different Tige models. The Z3 is exciting and I can't wait to see it in action. My dealer is Stayton Motor Sports outside Salem,OR and they just got a Z3 in that I spent sometime in at the boat show. The wife was sold on the boat, but did not care for the color schema too much.

I agree on the amount of freeboard - it is ridiculous the amount the Z3 has. After spending about 45 minutes crawling through the Z3; I went to look at Centurion 244 and it was no comparison. The 244 claims pretty similar list specs, but it was just not a Z3. Hands down Tige has stepped their game up in the tow boat market. I was amazed at the features and benefits that Tige offers - it seems that every other manufactuer is doing what they always have done, but Tige has taken it to another level and set the mark versus another "me too" product.

I appreciate the offer to come check out the boats; regardless of when I would love to head out with you and the family sometime in the near future. Looks like you guys have an amazing time out on the water and have this sport all dialed in.

Have u done lots of surfing w the RZ2? I relate to the "wife discomfort" thing about boat list too but we got over it after awhile and now she's super big fan of wakesurfing. Can share more if ya want to know how I did that but don't want to belabor here. How old are the kids?
We have logged about 135 hours in the last two years and roughly 90 of those hours have been surfing. My wife has probably 40 hours or so of total time - wow that is a lot!!

The girls are 12,7,and 3 - the 12 y/o old went wireless last year, but still prefers tubing ! The main issue is trying to corral 3 kids in a boat listed over at 10% (a little shady when you worry about kids moving around and their ages), spending 20 minutes filling and draining sacs (could be improved), and hearing the kids scream they want to tube!!! Some of this is clearly a function of kids being kids, but it all boils down to enjoying the water as a family.

Any suggestions are much appreciated! Good news is my wife actually tells me to take my friends as she respects how much passion I have for being out the water and wants me to enjoy it. That's great, but I like to spend time with the family and want both friends/family to enjoy it.

We have experiences with 2 ballast systems. The first is just taking the pro tige system and then adding custom sacs to the rear, which I think would work great in the Z3. I know wakemakers is already working on custom sacs for us, and should have the system measured and such. I am sure chpthril is also on that. This system probably takes a good 15 minutes to fill the custom sac, and this is how we had it in the RZ2. It never really bothered me, and understand I have 6 kids, 5 at home last year, only 4 now. Youngest is now 6. We would always roll out to our surf area, hit the ballast and swim for a bit, get in and go surfing. So we never felt like we were waiting, since we all loved being in the water.

With the 24ve we were experimenting with a system that could be fast enough for a competition, and wakemakers.com built a system for us that fills in like 6 mins (1500 lbs of water on side, more than the RZ2) and then also switches from side to side in under 4 mins. Its ridiculously fast, and very reliable. There were a few kinks in the system, that seem to have all been worked out, and wakemakers is going to install the same type of system in the Z3 so that we can pull at least 2 events with it.

Personally, like I said, if it wasn't for the comp, I never minded a bit of a wait. Now that I have seen the 4 min switch, though, its a bit tough to go back. But you can't beat the first system, buy the bags and swap them out in minutes and go.

TNVOLGRAD...we have a 2010 RZ2. We only have one custom sac that we got from Mike's Liquid Audio. We don't weight the front at all and we are up and running in about 7-10 minutes. The RZ2 does list if you want a killer surf wake (fill up with about 1,600 lbs) but you can get a darn good one without going crazy and leveraging TAPS and speed settings. We have not had any issues with our RZ2 and love it.

Z3 looks fun if you can afford it and you have a slip that allows for a 22'+ boat (we don't).

Good luck. Let me know if you have a specific question. You can also check out some of our wake surf shots at www.surfaustex.com.

When I saw that URL, I thought it meant "Australia and Texas" like you had some international thing going on.

In the market for a used RZ2

Not a Tige owner yet but would like to be. If you are serious about moving up to a new RZ4 I would like to talk to you about buying yours. Tige's are hard to come by in our area (Bozeman, MT) so I am looking everywhere. Let me know and good luck!
