    Rubrail repair

Is it possible tp replace a section of the plastic trim that holds the rubber rubrail around the perimeter of the boat? Apparently, I cracked a section of mine and now the bottom half of about a 2 to 3 foot section has fallan off and the rubber bumprail part pulls out easily there. I will be in Abilene in about 10 days and could deliver the boat to the Tige building if needed or can I replace the broken part myself?

Also, one of my rear vent covers has come loose and I pulled it totally off before it fell off like the rubrail part did. I just don't want to lose this piece. What can I glue it back on with. Seems like I used marine epoxy last time but it didn't hold as hold as I would like.

My rear vent cover came off my 97 years ago. It is good you didn't lose the part. I was going to try and glue it back on myself, but when I had the boat in for a service, the dealer took care of it. It has never had a problem since. I don't know what they used , but it worked. Sorry, I don't know about the rub rail piece. Good Luck!

Other boats I have had have had this problem and we always rivieted the rub rail holder to the fiberglass.

If you want to tackle it yourself it will require a drilling out the old rivets in the section that is bad and re-riveting on a new piece.
It will help to match up the style of rubrail you have herehttp://www.tacomarine.com/
But they wont sell to the public. I found the best price on my replacement insert here http://www.boatersworld.com/webapp/w...yword=rub+rail
        Hope this helps.

To follow up on this, I was passing through Abilene today and drove out to the factory where Andrew fixed me up on both problems with good instructions and a piece of the plastic rubrail base to replace my broken piece with.
Thanks Andrew, you are the greatest!!
I think I'll go back my on Monday on my way home and grab a couple of shirts too.
