I keep my 22i in a slip all summer and after a rain storm it gets pretty wet. But the strange thing is that it gets wet primarily in the fore, middle and aft storage lockers, not in the open cockpit or bow walk through areas. I suspect that the factory (snap down) cover does not keep water out but, for the life of me, cannot understand how it is coming through into the storage areas and not into the open areas. I hate the fact that the storage areas are carpeted because this just exacerbates the dampness problem (it takes forever to dry them out). I've thought of ripping out the carpeting and spraying truck bed liner material in instead, but maybe it would be better to try a deluxe cover. Does anyone out there have a similar problem? Do you have suggestions for a great water tight cover that can be used in a mooring application? I don't want a cover that covers the swim platform as my docking lines attach at the transom hooks.

Water Problem and Covers for 2003 22i R

I know exactly what you mean!
We bought a 2002 21i R used this year and it came with a new cover (2005) from the factory that hugs snug just under the rub rail and does not go over the swim platform. It's a really nice cover ( my mom owns a marine canvas shop in TX ). Water rolls right off this thing. The cover also has vents and fits around the tower. The only trick is getting those pesky support poles in place. I have thought a small inner tube on the engine cover might make it tent nicely, but have not yet tired this.
We have a problem getting the carpet good and dried before we leave our boat for the weekend. This is a major pain in the summer when we want to be on the water late Sunday, but need to hurry and clean and go and not wait for the carpet to dry. I wish so bad it all snapped out like in the bow. I have seen this box thing in the Overton's catalog that seems to be for drying boats. Take a look at that. I'd love hear if anyone's tried this thing out. (and again the locker carpet is always wet in places, and no I dont take waves over the bow...hahaha.)
