which boat has the best wake for wakeboarding

I am looking for a "newer" boat that has the best possible wakeboard wake, This boat will be running with a minimum of 1600 lbs of ballast. Right now, i am using a 2001 2100v with around 1600lbs, the wake is good but with that weight, it has white wash along the whole wake, but it makes a nice lip for the wake.

I am looking at anything from the 22v-rz2, used of course.

However this boat is purely for wakeboarding and Havasu trips. Also it will be ran in salt water the majority of the time.

The boats that would be nice are the r20, rzr, 22ve, rz2 but the main priority is wakeboarding and luxury is second.

We have an rzr and primarily wakeboard. It's the same hull as the r20. We regularly run 1600lbs and people and gear so we end up around 2500. The wake is a little on the softer side than MCs I've ridden and 22i's I've ridden but it's got so much vertical boot and it makes for nice landings. Real wide wake. I ride about 10ft shorter than most other boats. it seats 8 comfortably and can squeeze more. If need. Best part is you could probably find an r20 for around 40-45

What rope length and speed do you run? Im used to running 70ft at 23mph.

Would the rzr benefit from another 400lb sac in the bow along with the surf ballast?

Most people I would have on the boat for a weekend trip is 6 or 7.

23mph with the 2001 2100v and 1600lbs of ballast and around 4 people in the boat

This is our wake now, i really like it but the boat itself has seen better days.

On a RZ2 with 2000 lbs the wake is clean at 23.5 mph even 85 foot back.

Question: What boat has the best wake for primarily wakeboarding?

Answer: Either! Depends how they are set up though that is the question!

A fully loaded Rz2 can throw out a killer wake! with factory ballast now add onto that factory ballast and you are riding a super versatile wake. Depending how it's waited you can make it TALL and RAMPY or you can MELLOW it out and shorten the transition a bit. It's all depending how they are weighted.

Now a 22v weighted they are just as impressive when weighted properly! all the same things apply as said above on a well weighted Rz2.

The question you should be asking which you would prefer, roomier inside do you take a lot of people? do you surf periodically? do you do anything other then straight up boarding?

                Rz2 with 4,000lbs roughly speed 24.4 rope 80ft taps 3

If it is only 3 of you a sack would be nice. More than that and you don't need it in an rzr. The rzr wake was a topic of another thread I'll try to dig it up or repost pics.
I run 63" at 22. I run 71-75" at 22(ish) on an MC x-25 ( the perfect pass and tabs on that boat are fussy)

And rz2 will throw the biggest wake but you could pick up a brand new r20 or even a z1 for the price of a gently used rz2 if you dont need the extra size. And the 20 foot hull throws more than enough wake

This boat would be perfect for us, all black boat behind an all black truck but it's just way too far. I live in orange county, CA

If it is what you want and a good deal it can't be too far. Plus it may be cheaper to go get it than buying closer to home, if you can find what you want. I drove 9 hours to get mine. Several hours have driven at least that or further. WABoating up in WA bought a boat in FL and had it shipped to him. You might even find it cheaper to fly in and rent a truck or moving truck and tow it back.

Marine Stadium? Looks nice and uncrowded...midweek?

I would think having a black boat would be such a PITA to maintain (Especially a saltwater boat). And I could just see myself burning the crap out of myself boating out in Havasu with 110F+ days.

Yep, marine stadium. We are usually the only boat out even on weekends during the summer, but don't spread the word HAHA

A black boat isn't that bad, but then again we don't have a show boat or anything. We wash it every time and flush the engine out.

A 24V is one of the best out there.

I think it would be prudent for you to look at SBFan's since he is close to you and I bet he would be happy to give you a pull.

Just remember that his local lake is only 5 feet deep and that might affect the wake of the boat...might be slightly advantageous to have him go somewhere else.
                            Be excellent to one another.

the only problem is marine stadium has a max limit of 23ft, im not sure on how strictly they enforce though.
