New Year... 1st. on the water?

    Ok...

Its a new year and it seems a lot of us live in cold climates. We are all jonesing for a ride. I see some have riden late into the fall and early winter this past year and we all loves pics. Wet suits, dry suits and bikinis included.

So here is the request. Who will be the first in the water behind the boat this season. It did not happen without pics. You know we all like pics.

Also as the year progresses lets hear about your first time too...

Me, well I have to wait tell late Feburary. Boat is winterized and the heat could go out in the storage unit. So my wet suit waits patiently for me to dawn it and go.

This will be our last ski trip until late spring due to losing my third to the government. (My son joined the navy and leave for Chicago on 1/15/12) man will he be surprised, as he has always lived in southern California

There needs to be some relationship between "early" and "extreme temps". You can't just compare calendar dates. Going out in January in Florida is a lot different than going out early in North Idaho, I promise.

I hope to have my boat in the water in early-mid April to test out the wintertime ballast install. Anyone know of any power plants that send cooling water into a lake or river in eastern WA or northern ID?

If you find one I am in! I have a super high end sick sick sick 4:3 wetsuit that is fine if the water is above 40. I should have new customs stixxs by then.

                    I like this thread!!

We made it out to watch the frozen bun run on New Years day. I was going to participate until I realized everyone did it without a suit!! 46ish deg water and no suit, that is COLD!!!

I've been itching to get ours out since we've been in the mid 50's all winter so far. Supposed to get our first snow tonight though. Water temp is about 40* & I can't decide if I want to turn into an ice cube or not.

It did not happen without pics to prove it.

carcrz I know what you mean. It has been unseasonably warm, about the same temp here. Water temp is probably the same. I just need to wait a little longer till mid Feb. I then will brave it. No dry suit but a thick wet suit.

New Years Day in Phoenix was warm. Boat is winterized, so we took the jet skis out.

Air was 79, water ??. Excuse my friends language, he was a little excited.

No kidding. It's been 10F or more over normal almost every day this winter. We are WAY behind on snowpack, and our lake has never frozen over. Most years it's covered with ice fishermen, ATV's, snowmobiles... but this year it's stayed liquid except around some edges and a couple of shaded areas.

We had a high pressure system sit off the coast for SIX WEEKS the latter half of November and most of December. Absolutely nothing happened weather-wise, it all got routed north or south of the Pacific Northwest. And by "nothing happened", I mean it was so bad we had stagnant air warnings for three weeks.

                              This winter sucks.
