Talk to your dealer. Last year they were quoting about $150 from a local source. Letting them take care of it uses someone that has experience with teak platforms.

Ok I have been doing some research and found a place in Mesa Az (not far from home) that Rhino lines these teak platforms.I talked to this guy fo awhile and it comes down to this. They fill the gaps with urethane and can make it flush or leave slight dimples but I think I would want it flush. They have the standard black or grey. They can color match it for about 100.00 more. It`s around 350.00 w/out the color matching.Rhino lining Co makes this special chemical for treating the teak before they spray it.From what this guy tells me it makes these platforms almost indestructable.I`m going to go with the grey.I have enough black on my boat!

            FYI

Just a Heads Up! Tigé's fiberglass decks now run the nonskid all the way to the edge with a custom é design in the non skid itself. It is pretty sweet and doesn't expose glass to get scratched. The fiberglass glass decks can also get custom colored gelcoat. I hope this helps.

                  Deck Dings

2kims makes a good point 'The teak deck will not crush or crack as easily as the fiberglass if you bump into anything. I should say when you bump into something.. there are those who have and those who will.'

If you check out the 3rd picture of the '06 22i on the website (took me a while to look past the skybox seat
), it appears that they've already dinged the deck on the test boat! Perhaps the driver was distracted...?!?

I see that it goes almost all the way to the edge. The onethey had that they were going to put on my boat did not look like that,so it must have been an 05

I am getting a new boat this winter and have really been on the fence about the swim step. I have teak now and love everything about it, except the maintenance. You all have brought up some great points about both and after further review, I am sticking with teak. (Which in my heart I wanted to stay with) TIMELESS!!

I love this website, this is what the internet is all about. Getting good information from "real world application". Well that and looking at nice boobies now and then!

I have the teak on my 99 which is the traditional step (pre-CO) with the open slats. I did the teak oil, ATF, etc..Wife was always dissatisfied with the step as the teak would usually evolve to its natural shade of grey which 'bugged' her. Last season the swim step's 3 mounting brackets had stress fractures. I pulled it all off,,designed and had gussets welded to all three brackets. While down,,I contacted my dealer who discouraged the rhino lining method. If memory serves, I think they suggested that the rhino caused the teak to rot by not allowing it to breath and therefore adequately dry.

Following this thread seems like that is not the case, the photo's look great. I just went to Lowes and bought some one step poly stain (the can stated for indoor use), and applied 4-5 coats till the can went dry after using a light grit sanding. Applied top and bottom. Achieved the darker wood appearance the wife desired and never had to touch it all season. Not sure what the long term effects will be but so far so good.

The cost was about $8.00,couple brushes, sand paper and about 3-4 hours time spread over a month of weekends.

Just offering another response to the swim step experience.

Rhino liner on the teak platform looks cool! What a great idea!

I had my truck lined when I bought it. No scratches so far and it's even had battery acid spilled on it...the stuff is just indestructible!

I would also like to know what it cost you to do that.

                            Non-Skid Pad

I was wondering if anyone could tell me who would sell the non-skid traction pad on the platform with the e' logo.
