    Boat Shopping

First off I know this is the Tige site but I'm still looking for an honest opinion to help me make a decision. I recently sold my 2001 Tige 21i and I'm currently in the market for a new boat. I have currently narrowed my search down to the following 2 boats.

    2011 Axis A22 Vandall Edition:
The boat is tricked out and has everything I want including the big 400hp motor, full wet sounds stereo, and over 3,000lbs of ballast.

    2011 Tige RZ2
This boat is pretty loaded as well but doesn't have the big motor, a custom stereo, and only has 1,600lbs of ballast but is only 300 miles away. I also really enjoyed my last Tige. I'm going to look at this boat next week.

I do live at elevation and typically go to lakes between 3,500' and 7,000' above sea level. The group I go out with primarily surfs and every once and a while we will wake board. Both boats are a great deal have low hours and overall pretty close in price. Please let me know what you would suggest.

I think price and your color preferance should drive your decision.
Ballast can always be added if needed.
    Good luck.

Tige all the way! You can probably re prop it if you need too. I bet the 343 will do just fine. And it's a tige.

All I gotta say is sit in the nice plush seats of the Tige and then try sit on the seats of the axis. They are so very uncomfortable. That is what turned me off immediately from an Axis.

I have seen that Axis before...can't remember where though. Must have been on one of the other sites. Is that boat in the Salt Lake City area?

I would not be worried about the big motor at all. Unless you plan of 3K ballast and wakeboarding at 6,000 feet. The 5.7 is bullet proof and a proven item. WIth 2k ballast, I think you would be fine in most places.

I would go with the RZ2, I think you are going to find it to be much more comfortable and a much bigger feeling boat.
          Be excellent to one another.

I have an A22 and love it. I also love the tige boats, I think that both are great and test drove and rode behind both. The Tige is great it is a very nice boat, I went with axis because I liked the Wake better than Tige and also because I personally pefer the ride and drive of the Axis. Test both and then make up your mind. The A22 you are looking at is very nice loaded out, I saw where Chattwake had it for sale on the Axis Forum.

I too have seen this Axis, and it must have been on this site bc I don't visit others.

I would test both in rough water.I know for a fact the Tige will use less fuel. The Axis is Chattwakes and it is loaded, but if you haven't seen a 2011 RZ2 in person your missing out.I got hundreds of compliments on my 2011 last year. The wakeboard wake is huge with the 2000 lbs of pro ballast.Chpthril can help you with stereo and ballast questions. How much difference between the two boats prices? What options does the Tige have besides surf ballast and vision air seat and bimini top?
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

There is no comparison to the quality of build of the Tige over the Axis, or for that matter a Malibu, I was a Malibu dealer and am still a Tige dealer, everything in the boat is bracked together and always flexes and comes loose , The Tige will out ride both in rough water, better turning and gets almost double the fuel economy, our warranty issues were way higher with Malibu.

Precisely why I wouldn't buy the Axis, had I been given the opportunity to by the RZ2.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

reminds me of myself back in august... sold my moomba... had a great 2007 LSV.. but wanted a 24ft . sold in 6 days then the real work began.. what to buy. looked at supra axis and Tige... for varioius reasons did not want a malibu or mastercraft.

I think like all things personal preferance right? I owned a moomba, well 3 before my Tige, price point was right for me.. and they all worked great in fact I actually miss my indmar motor. (was super easy to change the impellar and oil filter location was beyond perfect!) PCM are you reading this? but I can tell you this. 400hp in that axis is way more motor then you need. (IMHO) had 325 in my moomba and it was plenty... with that said to me you have to compare what you get for the money and what makes you happy at the end of the day... easy to say you can add this and that.. most pay to have that done... not everybody like or wants to customize thier ride? That axis is good looking in some aspects to me... but all black is a bitch ... and I wish the Tige had tower speakers and a better wheel package... Its like my tattoo artist says to me... its not what I want.. its what you want... you get to live with it once you walk out the door... lol

I personally wouldn't buy an Axis in Colorado because of that windshield. Just think of those slightly windy days at Horsetooth where the wind is blowing the spray, you will be cold and wet even if you didn't get in the water.

The 343hp engine is plenty up here in the RZ2 and will be even better with the Acme 1235. If you want the custom surf sac, contact chpthril and he can get you hooked up on that.

I don't think stereo will be a problem for him, his buddy Ryan runs this place: http://liquidpowersports.com/

I think you'd be just fine with the 343. I have that engine in an RZ4 and my friend with a 22Ve runs it as well here in CO and we have no problems. If you need to re-prop that's always an option.
Ryan at liquid Powersports has worked on all my boats, I'm sure he can take care of you. I'd go Tige all the way, you'll never have a problem with resale!

I don't have time to read all the post, and I don't wakesurf, so my post is purely cosmetic. In all honesty, I would run from any all black boat. I have a 1 foot wide strip of black on my boat and its a PITA to keep water spots, sun fade, and scuffs off. Maybe newer gel-coats are better & easier to maintain than my oldie, but I have sworn to myself that the next boat I get is going to be all white!
