New Tow Vehicle- w/ Creative Question

OK so i grabbed hold of a new Truck Yesterday, F-250 w/ 6.4 Powerstroke. Love the truck and will get a picture of it with the boat later today as i am going to pick it up after work.

My question is for back up cameraS... yes i want two of them to tie into the same touch screen in the dash.

One camera will be the Rear for a receiver hitch (ie: Boat) the other will be mounted on the front end of the bed of the truck so as to help with Gooseneck trailer hookup.

The truck has 4 aux switches that i think will help. My idea is to hard wire both cameras into a Y-cable and then use the 1 video input to the screen. Now instead of wiring both cameras into the reverse lights that would activate them when truck is put in reverse i would like to wire each cameras power wire into the aux switches on the dash. This (theoretically) would allow me to turn on whichever camera i was wanting to use. and since only one would be on at a time the video feed should have no problem.

Again this is all in my head. What do yall think or are there any other ideas???

And as is custom here is a pic of the truck!

Sounds to me like that should work! As long as you only have one signal going in, shouldn't matter. Nice looking truck! Congrats!

Are the switches already installed or are the blanks available for a switch?

I like the potential to flip a camera on at any time going down the road without being in reverse to check the trailer.

The Switches come from the factory in the truck, but they are blank and dont run anything. One switch i have running to an onboard compressor to fill air bags for the rear suspension plus have a coupler to attach an air hose to if i needed to air a tire on the road ( I love that thing). But in my last truck i installed the camera and had it on a stand alone switch and was able to turn on or off anytime and monitor trailers or anything behind me. So the power to and from the switches I can easily handle. My theory part was the video feed going to the screen. If only the one camera is on at a time i should have no problems I HOPE!!

But i have ordered the parts and the cameras and i will keep updates comin on the install.

How 'bout a video A/B switch in order to select the camera you want to view, and just have both activated by the backup circuit.

Take a look at the lock pick devices - I put one in my Escalade and it has a port for an additional camera. I bought it to stream video via IPhone/pad through my head unit and rear monitors. It also unlocks the nav in motion and tons of other features. They have a similar product for Sync.

Also check out you tube as there are tons of videos on the lock

The screen is a Pioneer, not a ford factory screen, and it already has all of the features unlocked. I had this screen in my last truck and took it out to put in this one.
