New to me 2002 21V

OK, $500. Still worth every penny.

Is the main purpose to keep surfers from breathing the CO2? Does it just put the exaughst deeper into the water? Aren't the exaughst ports already submerged? Just curious about the benifits this upgrade offers. Seems like it would cork up the exaughst more and take some power with it. It kinda looks big and goofy, but I guess if it is underwater most of the time who cares.

I am already planning on adding a hot and cold shower, heater, and a bilge heater. Any recomendations on brands of Showers and Heaters? I was thinking of going with the Xtream heater for the Bilge, but don't know about the actual cab heater or transom shower.

Still need a Hydrofoil rack and safety release. Also was planning on adding a WetSounds 420 Equilizer with Talkback for goofing off and maybe a light bar and some underwater Leds at the transom.

The FAE will keep the CO (carbon monoxide) to a minimum or non existent at the rear of the boat for both passengers and surfers. I have never spoken with anyone that had a negative effect on performance. When you go above idle speed, the exhaust is out of the water. The FAE keeps it under the water. Runs sooooo much quieter. I had to get used to engine noises I had never heard. Makes the stereo much better too. You are right, not a cheap hobby, but the most fun way you will have to spend your money.

Yes, that is the main purpose, to keep CO away from the rider but, even more so from the passengers in the boat. The exhaust ports are underwater while stopped. As soon as you're underway though, they are exposed. You get a massive stationwagon effect in the boat at surfing speeds. You never noticed in your Maxim because the exhaust exits through the outdrive and straight into the propwash. The FAE puts the exhaust straight into the prop wash as well. The exhaust comes bubbling up well behind any rider and has no chance of being swept back into the cabin. I don't know about you but, for me, sucking on exhaust fumes all day tends to give me a massive headache and a little nausea by the end of that day. It's that way for a lot of folks judging by the amount of FAEs sold. Most Tigeowners have them, especially the ones who surf.

The noise reduction is a wonderful side effect. You can talk at a normal level at any speed. Plus it makes your stereo sound way better.

If I was building your boat, I would go FAE, Samson Razor w/ a foil rack, ballast system, simple stereo w/ a sub and based off of the WS420. In that order. From there its just simple add on creature comforts. Oh, except for the shower and heater but, those aren't too hard.

That makes sense for sure. I guess I didn't factor the ports coming out of the water when on plane. I will look into that for sure then. It looks like a pretty simple install too.

The boat already has ballast in the rear lockers with plumbing and switches at the dash. I'm not sure exactly how much though. My friend thought they looked to be 350 pounds per side. I have a source for a ton of weight in lead, so I thought I may go that route for now if I decide to add any more weight.

The stereo isn't too bad. It has the two kickers with tweeters on the tower, clarion head unit, a 10 inch sub, 6 speakers and an amp that I think was a JL, but need to double check the brands. I fired it up and it sounded loud and very clean and clear, so I think I'm good there for the time being.

I think I'll run the tower it has for this season just to guage how much it flexes before I do anything else. I had a monster tower on my old i/o and I really wasn't happy with how much it came loose. I had to replace the bolts at the heim joint twice. It would squeek and rattle alot. Granted me and my main riding buddy are both over 200lbs and have a 30 plus pound hydrofoil strapped to us and the customer service I recieved was awsome I am definatly over not having a sturdy tower. This one seems pretty sturdy so far. I didn't notice too much movement while trailering and just a tiny bit of flex while shaking it and climbing on it. Only true test will be on the water with boards and foils hanging off of it. If it won't work out I may drop the chedder on that next winter as I'll be about tapped out with everything else.

That is what I was wandering about. I have seen pictures with the dash both ways. Was it an option or a trim level and not a year model thing?

The Limiteds were the higher trim package, the Riders were more of a customizable, price point option level. Making sense of the dashes year to year has been all but impossible. I've seen my dash in '02 20v's. ???
