    Boat compromises

I'd appreciate feedback regarding people's choices regarding slalom boats and Tige. Here's our situation.

We currently don't own a Tige, but are planning to purchase next year in time for the Ontario spring. Our current boat is a Chaparral 186 SSi I/O - relatively heavy boat for its size with large wake. We are die-hard slalom skiiers who would have bought differently if we'd been smarter. However, we're also now wakeboarding, have children and hate the direct drive hump. We want an open-format boat, small wake for slaloming and flexibity to have larger wakes for boarding, etc.

Our solution (we think) is a 22V. Tested the 22i, but couldn't stand the hump. Have also looked at Nautique SV-211's but they are too narrow and not laid out well.

The 22V we think is a great compromise, but we recognize it is a compromise to some extent. Haven't yet skiied behind one, but wake looks much smaller than our I/O at 34 mph. The 22V wake actually looked smaller than the 22i wake at the same speed.

How do you find the 22V wake for slaloming, particularly compared to smaller I/O's? Common sense would say that it should be smaller. Before taking the plunge, we need some real-world feedback to get more comfortable. Thanks!
