I did. I was tired of the 6 mpg that my Avalanche got towing the RZ2 so I got a diesel.

I ordered my truck in Jan. Took Delivery in March. I now have 19,000 miles on my truck, towed the boat about 4,000 miles this past summer averaged 12 mpg in the flats and 10 in the hills. The truck is AWESOME. Everything it is supposed to be and then some. I get about 17-19 around town some city some highway driving in each tank. And yes it is an Ecoboost 4x4 6.5 bed trailer tow and max trailer tow packages 3.73 gears. SYNC

Yep, diesel is the only way to go. That is, if you want to be SURE you have power when you want it, torque when you want it, fuel economy when you want it.... If those things don't matter, then I guess a gasser would be sufficient!

I'm getting 25 MPG in mixed driving, ~22-23 when towing our 24Ve. That's on a bone-stock Cummins 5.9L in a 2006 Dodge 3500. She just rolled over 66K miles, not even broken in yet.

BTW, I also have over 700 miles of range with the standard 34 gallon factory tank.

All in good fun, folks! Drive what you like, as long as it's enough.

Planning an additional bedroom on your house? Reading between the lines, perhaps that text is your wife hinting at something....

Besides, if it's a bigger vehicle, I'd think it would only have more towing capacity and there'd be no question.

I'd have her try one. They don't drive "different" than a gasoline engined vehicle, especially if you get an automatic transmission so nobody has to think about RPM's and shift points. The car makers know their markets, and any diesel SUV is going to consider the Soccer Mom demographic and design accordingly. Costs nothing to give one a test drive.
