PHAT Buddy Tower Removal

Hey guys,

I have an '05 24V with a PHAT buddy tower. I want to remove it to re-powder coat it. Has anyone removed one? what is the best way? Is there a quick release for the base or do I have to disassemble the interior to get to the under portion of the base to take it off?

Do you have a picture of your boat with the tower on it? I bet we can easily see the base fitting if you have a pic and tell you if you will need to get under the gunwhale to get the tower off.

Which phat buddy tower do you have?
I have the extreme, but I think they made three different ones. I know the chaching was also popular.
For the one I have, the easiest way it to first remove the top part. (Like you were lowering it, but you will still need to remove the bolts that it pivots on) they you are only left with the two sides that bolt to the boat. These sides are help in place with two nuts each.

Years later I know. But have either of you ever replaced the foam on the racks. If so, what did you use.

Hey guys, I can’t figure out how to get those caps off to access the Allen bolts under them. Any suggestions?
