Oil Bath VS. Grease Bearing Buddies...

one other rumor I heard was that OB's run cooler that BB's... any truth?

My experience is BB on a '01, oil Bath on a '04, and BB on a '09. Had a small problem on the oil bath that the dealer found and fixed otherwise no issues with any of them. But when I bought the '09, the trailer mfgr would not put on the oil bath type- for all the reasons mentioned above.

As some of you know I did the write up on the oil bath seal removal/replace. Im a mechanic by trade and meticulously maintain everything I own.

We have owned both oil bath and bearing buddy grease type bearings. I have never had more trouble than the oil bath bearings.
Because of this I am constantly checking them.

Here are some good times from this season:

The jury is still out on this one. Possible caliper hung up, causing overheated hub, melted seal, lost oil and BAMMMM!!!

I have 3 oil bath hubs and one bearing buddy. The bearing buddy blew out. I am contemplating changing out all of them to grease. I assume the spindle on the bearing blowout will have to be changed. If I convert the remaining wheels to grease bearing buddy's, will I need to change the spindles as well? Also, I am having a hard time finding out exactly what parts will be needed to make the conversion. Anyone have a good site in mind? River Runner any chance I could bounce some ideas off you? We park our boat at storage in Corona but I live in Irvine. Thx!
