    24V/24VE

Found two diff boats on some classifieds. What is the differences between a 05 24v and a 07 24ve? Why does the ve have such a more narrow nose? What else changed. The VE is rated to hold more ppl by 4 or so. Crazy!!!

The Ve has the rear walkway, the rear activity center, smaller sun pad, curved transom, etc...

I have heard both that the V is better and that the Ve is better. We have a Ve and love it.

If you post the boats you might get some better information. Hours, condidtions, cost, etc.. I would go with the Ve but that is me, newer. On those boats another difference is going to be the V might have perfect pass. The Ve will have SpeedSet and throttle by wire. I believe but may be wrong the 05 will have a Merc and the 07 will have a MP engine.

They are the same basic size inside. The coast guard changed their rating.

We have an 07 24ve and love it. The rear activity center/area with compartments to sit on while you put on boards is very cool. SkipbCool also mentioned some other thoughts. If one of the 2 boats has heater that is a very good option(I was going to say cool option but I meant hot option) especially if you cruise at night or early/late in the season.

On the narrow nose, I don't really notice it--of course I don't know what an RZ2 or RZ4 has up front, but pepole on our boat find the bow section roomy & comfortable.

The 24ve may also have a VisionAire seat--with mesh for the driver.

I'd look at both, but having a 16 people rating is great when water patrol comes up and check you out.

What is the price difference? Colors, options?

My 05 had an MP engine and I think that most all had that engine in 05. IIRC, it was still an option to choose other engines in 05, and I think even in 06. SBFan has a PCM engine, and I think his is an 06. The 07 was when Tige went exclusively with Marine Power.

IMHO, the 06 speedset is a disaster, in large part due to not having any digital display. And I wonder if there might be some early 07's with that. A few pics and we can tell you.
            Be excellent to one another.

'07 Speedset is pretty solid from my personal experience and it's probably one of the easiest cruise controls to use out there. Set the speed and drop the throttle lever all the way down.

I like the Ve due to the transom activity center, it's a nice place to store your ropes but it does take away some of the locker space. I also like the looks of the Ve over the V, mainly the windshield and tower but those are personal preferences.

This may start a war, but I think the 24v has a better surf wave

                  2007 24VE: http://www.boattrader.com/listing/20...le&BAC-Oodle=&

05 has more HP, no idea how many hours are on 07.

Thanks for the input guys keep it coming. From more research I really like the starting prices of the 2011 R20, bit smaller boat buy mine now is only a 21' but a foot narrower than the Tiges.

I like the looks of the Ve. Another question would be what do you plan to do? Surf, board, tube, cruise, etc... The 24Ve needs some weight for a good surf wake. Why are you looking at the 24's, do you need the space? IMO jumping from the 24 to the 20 is pretty big jump. We like the 22, it fits in the garage and can fit two families, 11 people just fine, has a good surf wake and wakeboard wake.

To Duffy's point, I have heard that the V's are a better surf wake, but I have never surfed them.

All around use, no one that goes is very good at anything and haven't tried surfing yet. Room and storage is a huge selling point for my family and future use and growing. I just really want a smoking deal on a boat that will last the next ten years or more.

To me the 2007 is a better deal.I had a 2007 22ve with 4 times the hours as the 2005.They only used that[2005] boat about 15 hours each year.I would worry about lack of maintenance on it.How many hours on the 2007?

Here is a link to a 2004 22V we have for sale at our dealership. I know this is 22' versus the 24' you were originally asking about but this boat is flawless in condition and is also thousands less than the others you listed. Give me a call at the dealership and let me know how I can help.

I have a 2004 22v, and it has the same transom as that 2005 - I don't like it. You have to slide down to the platform, and I have busted my toes multiple times on the eyelets and grab bar. The 07 has a different transom to where you can sit on the ledge and slide you boots on. It is a direct step down, no sliding. This is big for kids too, and mine have a difficult time sliding down.

The 06 Speedset is a Disaster not because it is lacking a digital display but because it WOULD NOT lock on half the time when trying to set it. I fought that SOB for two seasons and ended up selling my 22V. I definately don't miss the Speedset.
