Saw the 22ve today @ skihut. 1st off, sorry, I didn't take any pics.
Here's a few differences I noticed between it and the 22v.
Bow is narrower, but seems a little longer.
Glovebox area looks bigger, but actual internal space is about half of the 22v
Windshield has a cool etched border and comes back about an extra foot and so does the rear tower leg.
Rear deck lids don't seem to have as much padding. Reminds me of a european car seat vs seats in a Tahoe or something. Don't know if thats a good analogy or not.
rear compartments seem a little smaller, (to make room for the transom seat) and there's a stardard 40ish qt Igloo cooler back there. Just like you the one you probably have sitting in your garage.
Transom seat with 3 part storage. 1 lid for with a cooler (might hold a sixer), and 2 lids for one larger compartment for ropes, binding lube, etc. They lids don't lock, but the hinges are spring loaded to keep em down.
The sun deck is smaller to make room for the transom seat.
Transom walkover on the starboard side, with a removable cushion and fiberglass lid. I wouldn't trailer it with the cushion in place as it doesnt have any physical restraint other than wedging it into place.
The rear corner cushions are carpeted underneath so you can flip them over so people can walk to the transom with out messing up the vinyl.
Engine seems stuffed in the compartment, with the tansom seat and the new mufflers taking up quite a bit of room. It'd be nice to be able to access the impeller/water pump from the middle transom compartment, via some sort of pull removable tray, because I have no idea how you will be able to work on it otherwise....
Interior layout is similar with the exception of the seat behind the driver. It's extended to cover where the entry step is on the 22v. Plus with the tower and windshield extending further back, you probably get more protection from the elements. You will definately be using the step over transom to get in and out or go from one boat to another.
Dash is quite a bit different visually.
This one had the speed set cruise control. I'd like to see how it works.
All in all there are some pretty cool things going on with the 22VE, and it distinguishes itself enough from the 22v. I've already got my 22v, but if I had it to do all over again, I'm really not sure which one I'd choose.
Interested to hear if anyone has anything to add or has ridden behind it.
