    Clean Wake - Problem Solved!

There have been a lot of people talking about Tige wakes washing out at slower speeds so I thought I would share what I have found...

If you have complained about the wake washing out at speeds below 21mph, please stop wasting everyones time by complaining your wake is not "clean" at slower speeds.

The only reason you need a clean wake is if you intend to use it. Riding at slow speeds with no intent to jump, spin, flip etc, does not constitute a reason to have a clean wake. It is much easier for a beginner to edge through a washed out wake then it is up and over your buddy's malibu wake, which for a reason only known by the wakeboard Gods, is clean at 16 mph.

    Sorry I'm not sorry...

A lot of talk from a less than average rider. You mit land that tantrum if you slow the boat down and shorten the rope. Just sayin... Good luck!

Seek professional help. This is just the internet here.

        But you are absolutely correct.

It has been suggested on every one of those threads that intermediate level wakeboarders should be going 21+ MPH. Like you said, beginners don't need a clean wake, so who cares that a wake washes out at 18 MPH.
        Be excellent to one another.

Or just don't buy a Tige that solves the problem as well. I have plenty of beg going wake to wake and spins at 18ish. Glad your crew is so hard core. I don't think asking for a clean wake between 18 and 20 is too much to ask. Maybe everyone should step up and ride like vandall 28 and a boat full of ballast.

Unweighted my 03 will make a clean wake @18mph only thing is with a 102 wide boat the wake is really wide at that speed even at short rope lenght so clearing it for a newb would be tuff. jumping is no problem. its a trade off IMPO. No not 28 like some smartazz (luv ya Helmut)but if your worried about the wake and want to jump 20 were you need to start.IMPO. that seems to be a nice learning speed on my boat anyway.Wake is clean with nice shape and not to wide with a shorter rope.

I wasn't trying to sound like some smart&ss hardcore wakeboarder telling everyone to ride a sacked out boat at 24, Its just getting old signing on and seeing a new thread every week about how tiges don't have a clean wake at 16mph when there is absolutely no need to provide a clean wake at such a slow speed because beginner riders don't need a defined wake.

Personally I remember learning to ride and trying to edge out over a defined wake was a lot harder then edging out for the first time over a wake that was washed out...

Logical argument. But a kid that prefers a friend's Bu with a smooth wake at low speeds is not going to "hear" his dad's logical explanation of why that kid does not need a smooth wake. So there is nothing wrong with looking for solutions as to how to smooth the wake. Besides, aside from several times recently, this topic has not come up all that often over the last several years.

Disclaimer: I am not a dad (yet, until Dec 10 ). But I try to convince people of logical positions all the time, often to no avail.

Are you guys running a bunch of ballast or what? The thing I have always liked about my Tige is that I can have a clean wake at 16 or 20 or 24. We have been giving lessons for the past 6 years. A washed out wake for a beginner sucks. It's like quick sand for an 80 pounder crossing to slow, it just swallows the board up. When I've trained these little ones for a wakeboard comp, I have had to warn them about the wakes being washed out at the comp and to "drive" through them.

                        A 21V weighs much less than a RZ2.A RZ2 IS 4300 LBS empty.

i can see both sides.... riding below 18 where you dont get a clean wake would be a struggle for the rider i feel, and if the riders ability is below 18 mph I would rather have them fall in the prop wash where the water is disturbed and soft, better for learning fundamentals like surface tricks as well... but when i tow newbies who can carve i run at 19 with the taps at one so the wake is just this long mellow pile of water (no wash) that is easy to cross and not too difficult to stand up and ride. but yes a loaded down tige does not make a suitable wake at less than 21 mph ill agree with that
