    Another dealer gone...

Not a Tige dealer this time, but the local Mastercraft/Moomba dealer. Also a certified PCM shop, one of only two I know of for sure in the area.

My wife got a text message today from the dealership, saying they were going out of business and that lots of stuff was on sale. We dropped by this afternoon. Example discount: A Mastercraft listing at $136K was available for $96K. Everything in the pro shop was 40% off or more, but had already been picked over.

I thought about the shop and the PCM certification, and asked about parts in stock. They had three of my PCM oil filters in their boxes for 50% off. I took 'em all. They didn't have any other filters nor other common consumables such as impellers.

Chalk this one up to rotten timing. They opened this brand new shop three years ago in mid-summer, and by the end of that first half-season sold 35 new boats. Then the economy tanked and they never again saw that kind of volume. Finally the overhead got them. "We're just not selling enough boats."

It's a drag to lose a dealership, even if it wasn't a Tige. A strong local industry is good for everyone. A weak industry, with shuttered dealerships and fewer choices, doesn't help anybody.

    What area...City??

Yet another all too terrible example of the economy and the struggles of small and moderate size business

Sorry. This is in the Spokane/Couer d'Alene area, just a couple of miles from the border between Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
