    Clean wakeboard wake????

Learning losts about Tige's just reading old post, but i havnt found much on wakeboarding, and the "WAKE"..? I have a 2011 RZ2 with the surf ballast, and have tried many differnt things trying to get a good wakeboard wake. The best setup i found was front sac full rears empty and taps on 6, and 5-6 Peps in the boat. My problem is the wake is washed out,,, well its got a nasty lip on it.
My last boat was a 2008 Malibu, and it had a very clean wakeboard wake, but the surf wake was lacking, and lacking alot. I purchased a Tige for the surf wake, cause after 2 knee surgerys wakeboard is not something i need to be doing, but my crew still enjoys wakeboarding. Help please!

If you bump it up to 22 - 22.5 or even 23 what does it look like?

It seems to get cleaner the faster you go, but my most of my crew is used to going 18-20mph. I may need to GPS the MPH on this boat to see if its off 1-2mph..? Everone says it looks worse from the boat, but i can that its affecting there riding when the hit the lip. It seems to stop the board, or buck them out of control. Any thoughts?

Keeeping with the slow speed that the crew likes, how 'bout no ballast and split the peeps between the bow and main cabin. Then use the TAPS to clean the wake.

I too had a lot of trouble getting a clean wake (different model boat, but still...). (Started my own thread about it too!)
We were all learning this year and everyone was going about 18 mph. In my boat, I can't get it clean at the slower speed no matter what.
But if I fill the front all the way and the back 50-75%, taps on 1, move my people around if needed, I get a huge clean wake anywhere from 20 to 25 mph. Raising the taps just makes it worse.

FRONT BALLAST FULL REAR BALLAST FULL TAPS ON 4 AND GO 22.5 MPH.The wake will clean up then.Tell the riders your going 21 they won't know the difference.

When going a slower speed the rope comes into play as well. I would run a short rope when going 18 for people just learning to jump. The wake is narrower the closer you get to the boat and the wake is cleaner. Everyone is correct that the faster you go the cleaner the wake will get. If you are going faster you can keep that short rope but the better you get the longer you will want that rope. With the longer rope you can generate more speed but the faster you go you will want more weight because the wake starts shrinking the faster you go as well.

Ex. Pros ride with 4,000lbs of weight in the boat but they are going 24mph and have an 80ft. rope.

I ride 22mph. With 1,200lbs and a 75ft. rope. It works for my boat and my skill level.

Make sure that when you find every riders sweet spot you program it in the computer so that you wont have to mess with it anymore.

All true, but the wake is not clean until you reach 19.5 mph. That's with no weight and taps on one.I ride at 22.5 mph and taps on 6 and a 75' rope length with no weight in the boat.If i fill the pro ballast[which has 400 more lbs of weight up front]i go 24.5 mph taps on 6 and a 85' rope length.

Wow 22-24 seems to be the sweet spot on Tige's. I rode at 20mph with 65" rope, or 21mph with 70" rope on my Malibu's be for my last knee injury, and i would have considered my self a good rider with a nice bag of tricks. 2-4mph jump could be a nice setup for some face plants by the girls, and/or beginners.
I had a feeling everyone would say to speed up, but i was hoping for something other than the obvious.
For slower speeds for beginners.., say 21-22mph and 5 people in the boat what would be the ideal set up?? 3 in bow, 1 driver, 1 veiwer seat? taps on 1? Its seemed like taps on 6 cleaned it up some?

i run 22 mph with all the ballast full and taps at 4, my usual crew is 3-4, one in the bow one observer and driver. with a beginner in tow i usually run front ballast only at 20-21mph taps at 6-8 depending on the rider ability. the tige wake has a big lip at the top with full ballast at taps 4-8 and mellows out at 1-3.

I had another kid from my lake out who was alot younger and rides his MC x-25 at 20 mph, asking us to go 22 so that he could get the boot that we were because the wake really picks up shape and pop at 22-24 (with full ballast) for some reason, once they try that speed they likely wont want to go back

It's best to put the peeps up front first. Then balance them in the back.At 21 mph you won't need to add more ballast. The taps actually makes the wake steeper and more lippy the higher the number. Most people prefer somewhere between 4 and 6.I have found when surfing 4 is perfect for me.Everyone will like something different. When wakeboarding at 21mph the sweet spot is between 70-75 ft.That's with no ballast, just peeps.
