I really would rather see the torque specs. on all those motors, I think they play with the hp # , but I bet the torque is close between them.

Haaaa! I recently let a buddy borrow my Duramax for a couple days and I was left with his new V8 Sequoya (sp?). I didn't know I could be so unimpressed by a vehicle. I figured Toyotas had their place and were a fine vehicle, albeit incredibly ugly ones IMO. I was wrong. I would never put my family in one. No F'n way.

There sure is a lot of talk about the gadgetry and styling of this thing yet, zero talk about the one thing that makes the one one thing everybody likes, the wake. What makes the wake? The hull. That is one crazy looking hull. To me, this is where the action is. It's the first thing I look at when looking at new boats. This one has lots to look at. Us old timers are rocking the spray pockets. This thing appears to have expanded on that theory for a different purpose, sinking the back of the boat. If you get rid of that hard negative chine that runs the entire length of the hull, it will allow it to naturally "sink" further. That kickazz wake is a direct result of that crazy hull. I'd love to see some info on the fluid dynamics behind that design. I can see it in my head but, that is just personal theory BS. I want the real story.

As for the rest of this thing, I actually kind of like the styling somehow. It at least has good proportions and balance, even if it is overdone. I like the seating. I like the bed option. The dash is stupid. The tower is a monstrosity. Frankentower.

What your refering to is a stepped , narrowed hull, spray pockets which Tige had and later years CC are pockets at the mid point under the side which turn the water down and elimnate spray a narrowed tail will sink deaper as you say and narrow the wake.

I realize that. My point was more the fact that this new hull lacks the full length negative chine. I always felt that the full length negative chine only hurts the surf wake. When Tige got rid of the spray pockets and went to the full length negative chine, it was in order to clean up the wash at the top of the wakeboard wake. It looked very Malibu-ish. What it did to the surf wake though was kill the transition. The spray pockets allowed the water to release of the corner, allowing the lower section of the transition to "fill in" more. The full length negative chine hull basically squashes the lower section of the wake down, resulting in a sharp transition at the bottom and a long, steep face. The smaller that chine is at the trailing edge, the less effect it will have on the face of the surf wake. I've yet to see the surf wake on the new MC but, it looks to me like it will be faily badazz.

Of course this is all just armchair fluid dynamics and I am more than likely just as full of chit as anyone.

What I really want to see is a hull shape that will allow us to not have to list our boats. Can you imagine? Just fill up both sides and surf whatever side you want. My dream is to transfer from one side to the next, rip airs off the spine, ride frontside, backside, regular and goofy, all in the same ride. No stopping. No switching sides. All go on all of it, all the time. If this new MC does this, I might just have to keep my boat for another 10 years until I can afford a used X Star.

Thats not really a new hull the step hull has been out for a long time in all the previous X Stars. They just improved the step hull a little.
