Dom since you are becoming Ilomar certified what do you know about them. Also didnt Tige go from MP to PCM seems like something that just happens. Business is bizzzzness. Also isnt Ilomar more than just a GM motor with stuff bolted to it to "Marinize it???

Some of their recreational series engines are marinized GM engines but I think this new 7.4L is their own creation

They also helped develop the V10 for the Dodge Viper which they use in go fast boats.

PCM was an option in the tiges for a long time. They just recently went exclusive.

Business is business is not correct.

MC was going bankrupt and had a 25 year exclusive relationship with indmar, so indmar out of the goodness of there hearts said we will float you over a million dollars of motors since you cant pay for them. Then MC basically restructured and said hey we want you to be exclusive with us, only MC gets indmar for now on or we are leaving. Indmar says you want us to give up 70% of our business for 30% of our business??? After all they did for them. Thats not business is business.

Rant over sorry. Back to the crazy looking XStar.

Do you mean as far as the recreational series is concerned? They definitely aren't exclusive to just MC from a company standpoint.

Ya just for inboard ski boat motors they only contract with MC. We will see how long that lasts who knows.

But they sell a ton of Race boat motors.

That they do. My buddy has the 625hp V10 in his 28' DCB. Pretty sweet motor!

I doubt the Ilmor costs them less $$. They are expensive units in Go Fast boats, would have to think they are expensive in ski boat configuration as well. A 7.4L 550hp motor isn't going to be cheap.

the pcm gm 5.7l makes 343

the ilmor like 330 or so

the indmar (MCX) like 308?

how does that work... some bolt ons are going in somewhere

PS the ilmor is quieter and a lower sounding, they still make that traditional MC WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH sound though (if you ever get behind one while its at 1/2 or more throttle you know what i mean)

Yes, I meant from a ski boat perspective. After all the trouble to ask indmar for an exclusive contract, and dump them, I was wondering if they only supply MC engines vs other ski boat competitors.

I really would rather see the torque specs. on all those motors, I think they play with the hp # , but I bet the torque is close between them.
