I see your point 5, but riddle me this, how many cars do you see driving around with broken flip up headlights? Does the new corvette have those anymore? I know it's not apples to apples but in 2 years when iPhone 8 comes out with holographic technology the LCD touchscreens will look dated and have bad indents on the screens where you hit the most often used buttons. Have you seen a 5yo car with LCD screen navigation?

Bottom line, most of us can't afford the Xstar. And if we could scrape up enough to buy one we might not be able to pay for the repairs of the seat hinges and flip up screen in 3-5 years when the warranty is up. Those who can afford it will be able to pay for the upkeep as well. It's just such a huge step up in complexity that those of us who do our Mx see all the little bits and pieces that will need attention down the road and we don't want to deal with that. It might seem like bashing but it's hard to type what you mean and how you mean it.

Forgetting all the complexity I really just don't like the styling. I think it's neat with all the gizmos, just like pimp my ride stuff from west coast customs, I would just prefer not to have it on my boat.

I get your point to Ewok, like I said in my rant, I get what all you guys are saying... I'm just making a point. I have a 4 year old truck with touch screen nav and I don't have any issues at all. My kids smash all over the screen (although it pisses me off) and it's still working. I have rear seat television in my truck too. No issues, kids are smashing buttons and wreaking havoc back there, that works like a champ too.

But if you all are ranting over these so called "innovations" why aren't you all rolling in R20's, Malibu v-Rides, or Axis A20/A22's?

My next boat will be an Axis A22, but not because of this technology... I WANT it! But I'll be in an A22 because I can't get an R20 in my area and because it's a price point boat.

Honestly, how many of you have touch screen nav units in your vehicles?

How many of you have those fancy push button latch mechanisms on your SUV back doors, or minivan side doors?

How many of you have all that chit and look down on the "keepin' it simple" trucks and minivans out there with cloth seats and crank windows and brag about your "keepin' it simple" boat?

I get all you guys' point, but do you really think these boat manf. didn't go over this technology first? Do you all think they developed this technology? They didn't, just like 99% of the boat, it's all purchased stuff that is proven which they adapted to the boats.

        Just sayin'
I'll go with you but tell me this...

What good does a motorized pop up screen do? How does it make my life easer while boating? I mean to me innovation should be something new that helps or makes something easier.

I think when we all say Keep it simple or one more thing to break we dont mean that its too advanced or whatever. We mean if it is only there because its cool and serves no real purpose then its just one more thing that we will in the end have to fix and will most likely cost a lot to do so.

Tige Touch has made my life so much easier while driving. I always rest my arm on the side panel on top of the shifter and with out moving anything but my fingers I can control everything, speed, radio, ballast, monitor engine temps, lights, blower everything. Did Tige Touch Cost more yes, will it break yes eventually. But at least it made my life easier in the mean time.

MC has pop up gauges and 2 different screens on each side of the dash and switches on top of that. So i have to go here, there, back here, back there and does it all cost more YES. But did it make anything easier then the previous model NO.

I believe all extra mechanic and technology lead to extra cost in MC. that why u see MC cost much much more expensive than Tige. All extra are the expensive of yr pocket.
But we can alert the trend of innovation and creation idea in boat industry.

Couldn't resist, now where is their video for the new star? Do you have to ride in an expensive boat to be the best rider on your lake?

My guess is and I do not know for sure is you will be able to control wether you want that to pop up or not. Making it clean dash to look over. At the show you could see to the left all your speed, RPM, oil temp etc on the left. I use to complain that MC dashes were too high and they were I guess this is them getting back to a dash someone under 5'6 can see over. So all you Fortes guys should be fine. I think Tige has done the best job with the gauges and touch to the right. I also like the MB sports dash as well.

Thats simple, the boat came with tige touch, if it was an option it would not have been added.

but that said electronics and water DO NOT mix well at all. boats are constantly in a moist environment. At least with the tige touch if it breaks down i have a 5 year waranty and merely 1 screen to replace, instead of 3, or a combination of screens and switches

did you know you can buy an upgraded bow to stern warranty on an mc? to bring it from 2 years to 7? anyone wanna guess how much more it costs?

try about 5k on for size

Well, it costs around 1700ish to add that kind of warranty to a Ford Focus, so 5k seems like a bargin for an extended warranty.

It's funny how the Tige Touch warranty is now up to 5 years, when it came out in 2010 it was only 3 years, the stadard boat warranty. That kept me away slightly from the 2010. A famous pilot once said don't fly the "A" model of anything. I wouldn't be reluctant to get the Tige Touch now, it's getting a good ops check and the warranty is much better. I would think the other boat manufacturers will also follow suit with their touch screen warranties.

Gino Vannelli should be the X-Star spokesmodel.

My 2 cents: Cologne is great, but more doesn't make you smell any better.
I like the first viewer's seat in the walkway.
2nd pull out back facing seat... not so much.
Folding it to a bed? Too Much. Unless you are the muy macho Gino.....

Get rid of the orange Naugahyde interior, tone down the wrap, install an AlphaZ tower, and put in some analog gauges and that would be a very sleek boat....

My question is after a 25 year relationship with Indmar , who by the way worked with MC during their money problems , why did they up and dump them fore Illimor, and they havent been advertiseing much about the Illimor even at the boat shows?

ilmor is now they're sister company after Penske bought them out inb09 when they almost went bankrupt. They can probably charge more for a fancy motor that costs them less

Penske no longer owns MC but he probably had this deal in the works before he sold MC.

Most people shopping ski boats in our boat show had never heard of Illimor, I dont know if that would be a negative too them.

I doubt the Ilmor costs them less $$. They are expensive units in Go Fast boats, would have to think they are expensive in ski boat configuration as well. A 7.4L 550hp motor isn't going to be cheap.
