Nickypoo, OK? Reno Air Race Crash injures 50.

Saw on my local paper the article of the plane crash at the Reno Air races. I know Nickypoo is a local at this event. Just wonder if he was there and made it out ok? A bad situation for sure!

Nickypoo posted he was there and thankfully he's OK. Very tragic for all involved.

It's been nuts here in Reno. NickyPoo lives just down the road a little ways, and I was just going to post a similar post to check on him. Glad to see he is ok.

The company I work for has a hangar out at at reserve base where the races are at, and our crisis management team sprung into action to help because of the facilities we have in the area.

I talked to my neighbor Saturday who was suppose to be in the VIP section on Friday, but someone had already grabbed their tickets from will call. He ended up getting some bleacher seats and saw it unfold right before his eyes. Someone above was definitely looking out for my neighbor...or maybe its 'Karma is a motherf...er'

Sorry fellas, I saw this last night and then got distracted, yaddayaddayadda.

              Thanks for the kind thoughts.

I'm still here. Been working. Still kinda struglin. Mentally. Still just not myself. It's not the first time I've seen a racer go down but, its the first time anybody else has been hurt. The air race community is pretty tight knit. Everyone is family. My little "mental anguish"? BFD. I do get to hang out with my Uncle this weekend though for a little mini family reunion that was already planned. He was a first responder that day for RFD. I know he's been struglin as well. He was right f'n there with gear and the crew and I was a mile away knowing there wasn't a damn thing I could do. Maybe we can cry on each others shoulders or something.

The one bright spot has been the EMS. So many people jumped into action at once. My Uncle just opened every door on the truck and got back in the fight. Almost immediately, ambulances and helicopters were running people to the hospitals. There was a guy with his Huey in the static display who fired that bad boy up and jumped in the helicopter line and started transporting victims. Within an hour they had the 50+ injured transported. There's a lot of unsung heroes from that day.

              Sorry, talking about it helps.

In an effort to lighten things up a bit, be sure to check out that new PUTS album. http://pl70.net/

I almost hate say it but, something I've been saying for years, box seats are the absolute worst place to sit at the air races. Uhg. He's just lucky.

The odds of that plane going in at that spot are astronomical. Look at the event site on Google maps. The bleachers are tiny.
