    Wakeboarding or Surfing?

Is it me or does the Tige market seem to be strongly pushing for a wake surf style boat although they are designed for the cross over and area great overall boat I've had a few! However I feel like everybody is always concerned about the wake surf wake does anybody really weight the Tige's heavily for wake boarding and I'm talking about adding weight onto the factory set up I know a few do just curious what other people's set ups. Currently in my last boat,

    Boat: 2011 Rz2
    Weight: Factory 2,000lbs
    Extra: 250lbs in walk way
    500 in the rear floor
    another 160lbs in the bow
    People: 5-6 people
    Speed: 24.6mph
    Taps:2

Thats a dialed in set- up that we have ran continuously in my 2010 and 2011 an hope to do the same and then maybe more in the 2012 that just arrived!

    2011

2012 peak will post another thread with detailed pictures monday or so after i get it out and run it!

i really enjoy our wakeboard wake

i run the factory 1600 (max from tige) but i think the bow sac fills up mmore than 400, and i havent felt the need to add extra, but ill tell ya what with 1 person (200lbs in the bow) an observer, driver and 1600lbs taps at 4 at 22 is perfect for me being an intermediate rider at best. But ive had some beyond advance riders out and ran an extra 450 up front (of people) and then roughly 400lbs for driver and passenger well call it 2500lbs total after gear and all the people and at 24 and taps at 3~4 the wake was pretty huge and wide...

I think most Tige owners, like me, like the boat for it's wakeboard wake and family friendly features, but then we start to get old and injured and see this new thing called wakesurfing. It's fun and doesn't hurt when you fall like riding at 23 mph, so I like surfing more right now and I still wakeboard a litlle. I'm sure my kids will want to sac it out and do more than surf, and I'm glad the Tige will be able to handle it.

I'm sacking the heck out of my '99 21V. It doesn't have factory ballast but when I sack it, I'm running about 3000lbs or more of ballast plus anywhere from 4-6 people. The wake is great.

I've been concerned about the wake of a new RZR and RZ2 as well. Wish I could see one in my area, but no dealer within 300 miles of me.
And yes, I agree they push wakesurf way more than wakeboarding in my opinion as well.

edited to add: I love the color scheme of that orange RZ2

There is no dealer near you, but I am close. You want to test a wakeboard wake? Come on down. Just plan it.

Other then when Centurion rolled out the Enzo and then the Switch-Blade, no one else has offered a tow boat that is geared towards surfing. Most of the others are built for wake-boarding, but have been found to produce good surf wakes. But look at how the sport is taking off! Tige is filling a nitch, but IMO, hasn't abandoned wake-boarding or the family-friendly ride/comfort that that have been known for.

The Nauty 210 has one of the best wake-board wakes, it an awesome boat, but not one that I would be able to enjoy a 10 hr day on the water with like we do with a Tige. If all I did was hard-core boarding, Tige may not be my first choice. If I was a hard-core surfer, Tige would be my first choice. If I wanted a great boat that did lots of things great, Tige is still on the short list, without a question.

I love sacking out my tige for wakeboarding! Don't do much wakesurfing. My 06 22ve came from the factory new and we had the dealership plumb in 400 lb fly high v-drive sacks in the back with the stock hard tanks mid ship on both port/starboard side. After a couple months I replaced the v drive sacks with the 750 fly high sacks for each locker and added a few extra. Current set up is as follows

                  1x750lb port locker
                  1x750lb strbd locker
                  1x100lb hard tank port midship
                  1x100lb hard tank strbd midship
The above are all factory plumbed with dash switches, the rest we fill up with a manual pump
1x1000lb triangle sack in the bow
1x400lb vdrive sack in the walkway
1x400lb vdrive sack on the ground against the back seats
                  Total:3,500 lbs

Wake is generally a little steep when more than 3 people are riding in the back so we will drain the back 400lb sack to adjust accordingly

This set up gives me tons of flexibility for riders who like to tweak the set up for their preferences i.e. faster vs slower, longer vs shorter rope.

Wake is meaty and steep and has a great lip with this set up.
                  Taps is run between 2-6
                  Rope is 75'-80'
Speed is 24.5-26.0 as read on the boats speedo

                    Nice weighting!

This last weekend I weighted my '99. The little Mercruiser had a tough time getting on plane even with the ACME 911 prop, but it worked out. Wake was comparable to my brothers 2002 X-Star. Definitely a pro level wake. Best one out there? No, but close enough.

                    I had:

                    750lb port locker
                    750lb starboard locker
                    400lb walkway
400lb sideways over the above mentioned sac
1100lb on the floor in front of backseat but didn't fill that one entirely.
                    Waiting for another good one!

I only weight my 09 Z1 with factory ballast (900 lbs.), full tank of gas and 6 people, wake is real nice at 21-23mph 65-70' line. I have taken people who can throw tantrum, backroll, Railey, W2W 360's etc. with no problems and all have commented on how well the wake is for a 21ft boat. With only 2-3 people, yes the wake is smaller and yes I am considering adding more ballast for those days. Occasionally just my wife and I will go out for some riding and yes then the wake is much smaller without the extra people in the boat.

I would love to see a head to head comp of the R20 vs. A20

I know what the A20 wake is like...
