    Another towing question...

We are looking at buying a 2009-2011 Suburban and plan on using it to tow our 2010 RZ2. They are spec'd to tow up to 8100 lbs which would seem to be plenty. The 3/4 ton can tow 9600 lbs but you take about a 5mpg hit. I'd rather get better mpg if at all possible.

Does anyone have any experience towing a comparable boat with a 1/2 ton Suburban? Do we need 4WD or will 2WD be sufficient?

Last year I bought a new F250 and it tows our RZ2 with ease. I'm not expecting the same results but curious if it will handle the task.

    Thx as always...

j2dna - We tow a 08 RZ2 with a 2011 GMC Yukon XL with a max tow capacity of 7,800 lbs. It is all wheel drive and does just fine. I was actually getting about 13-15 mpg with it up to our cabin. Before that I used our 03 GMC Yukon shorty. It was not as efficient (7-10 mpg) as the new truck but it still pulled it with out any issues.
We get lots of snow here so we went with AWD. Plus the added security of AWD vs. 2WD.

You must have the Denali version with the 6.2 if it's all wheel drive.

But to answer the OP, it will tow your boat just fine!
