    Weird Issue

So for a week or so now I have had the weird issue. I start my boat and it will run for a minute for two them cut off. Everything goes off. I Looes all electrical power which kills the engine. After doing this several time it usually runs fine.

It acts like there is a loose connection somewhere but I can not find one. Sometimes it takes several munuts for the power to come back on sometimes it comes back right away. Anyone herad of this?

I have a merc 350 mpi, 2 batteries with a perko switch. Can a bad ECM\ECU cause this? Bad Battery? It does this when the perko is set to 1, 2 and all.

The ECM only controls engine functions, so if the whole helm is going dead, good news, its not the ECM.

Since it happens in 1, 2, or both, it will be from the "C" post of the switch to the helm. I would look close at the kill switch or ignition switch.

Thanks chpthril, I will check the ignition switch tomorrow. My boat does not have a Kill switch.

So I checked my ignition and all appears to be good. One additional thing. My Ignition switch does not have to be on to use the Blower, Stereo and other acc. So I am pretty sure its not the switch.

Anything else come to mind I can check. I keep thinking bad connection or bad ground. But I can not find it anywhere.

        Am I missing. anyhting?

Have you checked your main ground wire?

Could it be your perko switch. Its essentially acting like someone turned that to the off position. Can you simulate that while it's on the trailer.

I'd take a closer look at the perko switch, make sure it works properly and make sure there are good contacts between the switch and wire contact.
